Description

Spreading some christmas cheer

I am placing this cache in December 2017 so it is very relevant for this time of year to hide a christmas themed cache, obviously when it is found throughout the year not as much cheer can be spread, but if it at least gives you a smile then I have done my job!

Please log this cache and then move to a new location, please dont put it in an existing GC cache as they tend to go missing.

Have fun finding this little man in red.

The Man in Red has found the perfect place to relax after a busy festive season. A walk along the beach and the sound of the ocean is just the thing to rest and recharge. Santa is having a well-earned holiday on Christmas Beach. The head elf is in charge of the workshop while he is away making sure production is on track for the coming year. This is the life thought Santa and closed his eyes for a nap in the warming sun.

This moveable cache has been with the previous finder for almost 4 months and has not been relocated. To avoid cachers searching for a cache that is not at the posted co-ords, we will archive it.

If the cache appears again, the listing can simply be reinstated...

I quickly found Santa's hiding spot in a hollow log covered with twigs. The hard part was trying to excavate the man in Red from a well-established ant nest. I was not keen on getting bitten. Poor Santa has seen better days. He was filled with ant eggs and has lost the top of his head. I will give the little man a good clean before finding a new home.

Thanks for the cache.. a bit early for this guy.
Cheers

Ho Ho hold on just a minute. It's way too early for you to be getting around Me Clause!

Well I hope you noticed that there were a few "good" geocachers at the GIFF event and afterparty, not saw who was "naughty". I expect a certain "Cache Poli should be getting coal in his stockings this Christmas.

TFTC Smile

Only 8 more weeks till Christmas, so I imagine the Man in Red is cruising around the area, seeing who has been naughty or nice. One for the naughty list is SeeMyShell, who has no respect for moveable geocaches. I'd like to order a lump of coal for his Christmas present thanks!

Great to see another moveable make it up this way! I didn't take him tonight - just signed the log. Someone else will move him on.

Well, The Man in Red heard that we were attending the Geocaching International Film Festival at Murwillumbah tonight. Since the Northern Rivers geocaching krew have a film in the line up TMinR thought he might like to come too, to see the film and meet the stars. Maybe one of them might take him home and hide him elsewhere,

Goodbye TMinR, I hope you have enjoyed your rest.

Note To Finders: We will be bringing a bunch of moveables to the event, you can find them there.

This moveable certainly made me smile - it makes number 100 GCA finds - so I am very happy. It like an early Christmas present.

We were out and about for Gold Coast Open House and since we were in the area called past to give this guy a lift. He said he was feeling someone hot with all his winter gear but since our next stop was the Kurrawa Surf Club I offered to buy him (and all my new friends) a cold one after the tour -ice-cream of course.

I've invited the Man in Red to come and stay with me and my Krew for a while until he decides on his next move. There is a great tree in a nearby park which dinosaurs and others have liked to hide in, or if he wants to wait a little longer there is a gathering of geocachers next month where he might find a lift.

Thanks for the cache.

As usual, GCA moveables left at a GC Mega can sit around for a while...look at the number of trackables still listed at any Mega.

Any moveables still listed at the Queanbeyan Mega are currently being rounded up and will be moved on as soon as possible.

Arrived home late last night after a family gathering in the north so was surprised to noticed this morning that a visitor had left a few little moveables close by. Little Man in Red was a little late for the Christmas delivery run but was happy to come inside and join a small group of resident santas for a short time. A nice little santa with an unusual sack on his back.

We are participating in the States of the Nation games which are currently running from 16 December 2017 until 21 January 2018.

States of the Nation is a real and virtual geocaching scavenger hunt where your home state will compete against other Australian states to find and hide geocaches. Over the 5 week course of the game there will be hundreds of scavenges that you can track down, find and convert into points for your state. Some scavenges will be easy. Some scavenges will be tough. Some scavenges may be impossible. Don't despair. You are not competing just for yourself; you are competing as a state.

There will be a number of scavenges released on a weekly basis but each scavenge will remain until the end of the game. This means even if you decide to join the game part way through, the early scavenges are still available for you to claim. Scavenges will require you to find a geocache, hide a geocache, attend an event or do something else completely different. The game focuses on all aspects of geocaching and so all cache types, sizes, terrain and difficulty will be up for scavenging. TrigPoints, Events, History, Virtual, Webcam, Podcache and Locationless geocaches are all scavengable, so you're not just looking for a box under a bush. Each week there will be a mix of physical, non-physical and locationless geocaches so even if you are not in a geocache rich area, use the locationless component of scavenger series to get out, find something to log and gain points for your state. If you watch the scavenges as they are released you might also spot the 'not so hidden' patterns and plan for future weeks of the series.

Hiding geocaches will also be a large part of the scavenger series, but please remember this is a game of geocaching and geocaches that you hide should be long lasting, be of good quality and you should be proud of what you hide. Please avoid hiding a geocache just for the day so your state can find it before you archive it. Geocaches that exist for a short period of time may result in any claims on that geocache being disqualified. Play creatively, but also play fairly. More geocachers hiding more geocaches makes for more geocaching fun.

Sorry about the lengthy logs. We are currently aiming for a virtual verbosity trophy.

Go Tassie! Go Tassie!! Go Tassie!!! Go Tassie!!!! Go Tassie!!!!! Go Tassie!!!!!! Go Tassie!!!!!!!

The Man in Red has landed in Launceston. He had a flying visit to Sydney today but no promising hiding places offered. His owner would like him to get some exercise before Christmas so I'm hoping our local cachers will oblige... Very Happy

20-Dec-17
Poor old Santa. Sitting all neglected at this time of the year. Nearly two weeks in a guard rail!
I had a bit of a drive to retrieve this one. My own fault as I'd been in the right area during the day but didn't check for caches till I was in the city. Never mind, it was the right time of the evening and there was hardly a car on the road so it was a quick 50km round trip. Quite pleasant to cruise along roads that you normally can't see for vehicles.
The next question is where to take him? I think this is an owners call. I can hide him tomorrow (Thursday) close to Adelaide CBD. I can hide him in Sydney on Friday, or Launceston on Saturday. My recommendation would be Launceston, as I suspect that's his best chance of an energetic Christmas and if it turns out a bit quiet, I can bring him back to SA sometime in the New Year. Sydney would be a gamble as I won't have time to pick and choose an area. It'd likely be out to the SW. Alternatively, he can have Christmas at home?
Pop a note in or send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

08-Dec-17
So I was going to leave this in the city today but forgot to take it to work with me. Therefore I have placed it in a familiar GCA spot to begin its journey.

Given the Christmas theme if you find it before Christmas (Dec 17) please move it as quickly as you can to help spread the Christmas cheer and maybe for just a little while keep it suburban so it can be found frequently. Wink
