Description
Is this for real? Patrick Boumard, professor of anthropology at the University of Rennes and author of a study on the French relationship with the decorative sculptures, believes that gnome-napping, which first surfaced here in the mid-'90s, started out as a simple student prank but struck some profound chord in French life.
The garden gnome, the anthropologist says, is a totem of the times we live in and is fraught with all sorts of symbolism--economic, cultural, emotional.
"For my paper, I went out and talked to people who have gnomes in their garden or on their lawn," Boumard said. "I often found surprisingly strong affective connections. Some owners, for instance, wash their gnome every day. Others take their gnome in for the night and put him to bed. Many people talk to their gnome as if it were their favorite child. These objects allow a regression into childhood without a visit to the psychiatrist. I call them the 'Freud of the poor.' "

In the past I have asked Humph how he got his name but I still haven't found out whether his full name is Humphrey or it is because he starts every sentence with "humph"
I asked Humph the Green Gnome what he thought of the story I found on the internet about the role gnomes play in our lives & the gnome-napping in France
All Humph said was "hummpph I've never been taken inside for the night not have I been given a bed or bath, apart for the odd shower when it rains but end up with more mud on my feet than what I began with"
Have you got a nice home and would like to protect him from the gnome nappers can you assist with his exile
Thank you

The latest Geocaching Australia game runs from 01-Dec-2018 00:00:00 to 31-Jan-2019 23:59:59 AEST
For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath.
A moving cache, by nature, may have been moved since you last determined its location. It may have been picked up but not yet rehidden so it's considered 'in-transit'. There is no foolproof method of determining where a cache is simply by the log types that have been placed against the cache.
Thanks for sharing this one....

Good luck on further travels
As this is now over 4 months ago, the chances of the cache being relocated are minimal. The previous finder was contacted regarding the relocating of the cache, however no action has since been taken. As a result, and to keep the Geocaching Australia database clean and up to date, we are archiving the cache.
If the cache owner can confirm that the cache has be relocated, they can post an unarchive log and the cache will be back in the game.
Picked up a number of other moveables from this well-known local spot, but Humph wasn't here!
Hope he's OK . . .
Joint find with rogerw3!
rogerw3 has replaced him in another spot where he can continue to watch the trains!
(Love these gnomes . . . )
