Description

Containbow was created by local artist Marcus Canning who said “(Containbow) Rainbow is a new iconic entry statement for the portside City of Fremantle – visible from a range of major entry arteries – from the water, from the air, from rail as well as car,”.

It’s located just off Canning Highway, near the old Fremantle traffic bridge, overlooking the Swan River. The artwork – commissioned by the City of Fremantle – has become an icon.

Containbow is huge. It’s made up of 9 different coloured  shipping containers, all joined together to make a 10 metre high ‘Rainbow Arch’. It spans 19-meters in length and weighs approximately 66 tonnes.

Containbow was instant hit on social media, with photos of the artwork going viral on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook in the days after it was installed, even before the official opening.

All you have to do to claim a smiley here is attach a photo of yourself with Containbow in the background. Easy...

Had a great day out in Freo with the geo-sons walking all over the place before driving here in the hope of coming away from the stop with two finds but was unable to locate the GC traditional, but I was able to grab the required selfie to claim this GCA virtual.

Have been meaning to stop here and check out this very pretty rainbow for a long time. Today with the restrictions the streets are empty, perfect timing!

Came over from the east for a work visit half a day early to enjoy an afternoon of GCA caching in the Fremantle port area. Despite the strong winds, it was a very relaxing afternoon cruising around the various local features marked with a GCA cache. Thanks jinta29 for highlighting this wonderful structure. It was the third visit after a failed attempt and subsequently successful attempt at the GC cache here over the last couple of years.
Cheers

Out and about caching and taking photos for the day. House sitting over here in this beautiful state. Always a great way to explore areas. Lovin' life, coffees and caches, waymarks and photos, taking the roads less travelled, letting my GPS be my guide. Does it get any better than travelling this great land of ours? Dancing

What a beautiful area to take a stroll (and quite a few photos). - After having my car broken into and my camera stolen, I have to rely on my phone now for pics Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for the Cache jinta29. Appreciate you highlighting this area and bringing me here. Clapping

What an amazing structure. So bright and colourful.
Was out with Jinta29 and snapped a photo while finding the GC cache here. Didn’t know I’d be claiming a second find a few days later.
Thanks for the cache Jinta
