Description

This Webcam is located near the Surf Lifesaving Club at Lennox Head. Lennox Head Beach, more officially known as 7 Mile Beach is a great spot for a swim and also has a freshwater lake less than 100m from the waves.

Lennox Head Beach is patrolled during weekends and holidays in the summer months. The surf club has change rooms and showers to wash the sand off after your swim. Straight across the road from the club is Lake Ainsworth. This lake is a freashwater lake but it is stained dark down by the tea tree which grow around the entire perimeter. It is sometimes referred to as the Coca Cola lake by some locals.

To do this Webcam geocache, you will need:-
(i) GPS, or local knowledge.
(ii) Mobile phone.
(iii) Friend with a net-connected computer and a phone.
(iv) Willingness to have your picture posted here.

Your Task:

1) Go to the listed coordinates, locate the webcam and then use the webcam feed to figure out where you need to be to be seen in the webcam. You will notice that the camera bans around so you might have to wait a little while until the camera moves to your location. You also might need to get your feet sandy or wet for this cache, so I have given it a terrain 3.5.

2) Once you are there you can either use your smartphone to access the page or ask a friend to log into the webcam page at:

https://www.willyweather.com.au/cameras/nsw/far-north-coast/lennox-head-beach.html

3) Take a screenshot of the webcam witih you in the frame.

Also let us know if you had a chance to try out the surf

Logs

We are visiting family for Xmas and took a drive up here to log this web cam and check the surf out with all the wind we have been having TFTC

I decided to take a day trip to Lennox Head to find a few caches. This was my first attempt at taking a photo with a surf cam. I watched the live feed for a while to find out where the camera was panning. The day was overcast and the image on my phone was very dark. It was hard to identify people and objects. At first I thought it was the brightness of my screen or the glare. I took my sunglasses off and could see a little more detail. You can see Smorefiya and I in the bottom middle part of the surf cam photo. It may help to wear a bright shirt or hat to spot yourself more clearly or have a friend take your photo. TFTC MalDawg.

After the nearby event MattyRx, Renroc and I headed over to the beach to correct this webcam. I'd noticed last weekend at Shoalhaven Heads that the old webcam link was broken, so was glad MattyRx knew the coastal watch one would work. I was just able to capture an image whilst it was still moving before an ad came up. I grabbed a photo of the three of us seconds later.

If I could turn back the clock I'd probably see myself out there in the water a few hours earlier. It's beautiful in there and out here. I love the live music on Sundays here.

After a GCA event just over the way, we wandered down here to make a find on this webcam cache. Link in the cache description no longer works, but the same camera can be found at https://www.coastalwatch.com/surf-cams-surf-reports/nsw/lennox-head-beach

We posed and then waited for the camera to pan our way, and took the necessary screen shots on our phones. A fun cache, and it was the perfect day to spend at the beach. Couldn't have asked for better weather.

A fun cache, thanks MalDawg!

After a break the isolation catch up with MattyRX and Notomorrow we went to get our photos captured by the surf cam. Beautiful day here today. Thanks for the cache.

After finding we could access the Surf Cams by phone, instead of all the rigmarole of having to take the computer to the beach, we were enjoying visiting the Northern Rivers beaches to get our shot. This was our third and surprisingly this one hadn't been logged. It has now, {FTF} Very Happy That's us with the white hat and bag, about a quarter of the way in the picture from the left. We didn't stop for a swim because there was another unfound Surf Cam at Byron Bay begging for a log. Wink TFTC MalDawg.
