Description

A mystery cache published during the States of the Nation summer game

The cache is not hidden at the listed coordinates but it should be a simple puzzle to work out the location.

The cache container is a large black painted bucket with a logbook, pen and a few small swaps.  This area is a little penguin habitat so please be careful not to disturb any of the locals in your search and please shut the gate carefully when you leave.  Enjoy

Despite the fact this cache hasn’t been found since October in 2019, today we found this in good condition. Log was signed and lid tightly shut to keep cache in good nick for years to come. Thanks for the cache!! Very Happy

One of the simpler puzzles that we solved ready for this caching trip to the Wynyard area.
Was hoping to give the dogs there first run here but unfortunately this wasn't an area they were allowed in.
A quick find was made here by our 8 year old grandson, who enjoyed the large container and the swaps!!!
Thanks.

i solved this puzzle a while a go but never had the time to go grab it, today i was working in table cape s on my way back to the office i stopped to grab this cache, after a short walk down the beach and using the hint the cache was soon located, my first thought was how do you hide a large container in a tree but you did well as it was well hidden in amongst the branches. This was a quiet and peaceful beach today with no one around. TFTC Clan Cerberus

Had this cache on my list for a long time - and finally got it completed.
TFTC.
Took the longer way to walk to this cache, and then it took me quite a while to actually find cache.
Found this cache on a 2 day trip to the NW, covering over 1000 kms and finding around 100 caches of both GCA and GC

My turn around point for the day....

Last cache heading west and once at GZ it wasn't too long and the cache was spotted. Log was signed and returned to the cache, and I was off from whence I came.

Thanks again Sharnie's Tribe....

Hi Sharnies
A three day trip to the North West Coast of Tasmania

Travel:
Started at Huonville through the Lakes Highway on the central Plateau to Deloraine and out to Sisters Beach; back to Somerset for the night. Various places visited through the next day finding caches, mainly in the Penguin area and back to Goat Island Reserve for the night.
Day three, I was caching around Ulverstone and then back to Huonville.
Total kilometres travelled was 1006 kilometres
Found 16 caches during day 1, 26 on day two and 12 on day three – total 54 found and two DNFs.

Walking:
Over the three days, I took 32664 steps burning 5791 calories to cover a distance of 25.51 kilometres in finding the 54 caches.

This cache:
An easy walk soon had me GZ with shoes full of sand
Only a short search for this one
It was Sainted at 1808 hours
The scene is good; great spot - have found a few caches near this location
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint

and after another short drive I was soon Park within a few hundred metres of the case after a bit of a walk Gz was found, a quick search later I was signing my name thanks for the cache

Out and about caching with Tassie Trekkers in the North West on a very windy afternoon. Solved the puzzle on the run. A clever hide. Will claim this find as part of the States of the Nation games.

States of the Nation is a real and virtual geocaching scavenger hunt where your home state will compete against other Australian states to find and hide geocaches. Over the 5 week course of the game there will be hundreds of scavenges that you can track down, find and convert into points for your state. Some scavenges will be easy. Some scavenges will be tough. Some scavenges may be impossible. Don't despair. You are not competing just for yourself; you are competing as a state.

There will be a number of scavenges released on a weekly basis but each scavenge will remain until the end of the game. This means even if you decide to join the game part way through, the early scavenges are still available for you to claim. Scavenges will require you to find a geocache, hide a geocache, attend an event or do something else completely different. The game focuses on all aspects of geocaching and so all cache types, sizes, terrain and difficulty will be up for scavenging. TrigPoints, Events, History, Virtual, Webcam, Podcache and Locationless geocaches are all scavengable, so you're not just looking for a box under a bush. Each week there will be a mix of physical, non-physical and locationless geocaches so even if you are not in a geocache rich area, use the locationless component of scavenger series to get out, find something to log and gain points for your state. If you watch the scavenges as they are released you might also spot the 'not so hidden' patterns and plan for future weeks of the series.

Hiding geocaches will also be a large part of the scavenger series, but please remember this is a game of geocaching and geocaches that you hide should be long lasting, be of good quality and you should be proud of what you hide. Please avoid hiding a geocache just for the day so your state can find it before you archive it. Geocaches that exist for a short period of time may result in any claims on that geocache being disqualified. Play creatively, but also play fairly. More geocachers hiding more geocaches makes for more geocaching fun.

Sorry about the lengthy logs. We are currently aiming for a virtual verbosity trophy. TFTP

After a day spent doing touristy things with visiting family members we arrived home late and realised that we had yet to find a dragon zone cache for today. We had intended to slip out when the mini visitors had gone to bed and look for one of the unfound moveables hidden near by but we were not confident that these would still be there as several caching teams had been close to the hides on Boxing Day but still there were no moved or DNF logs.

While we prepared and ate tea we discussed what to do. We had just decided that we would look for the moveables when notification of new Sharnie's Tribe caches came through. They were over 30km away but would score good points for the States of the Nation summer game.

We did a quick solve and a check on Google Earth showed a promising area for the hide. While one team member played host to our guests the other headed west.

There was little traffic on the Bass Highway so it was an enjoyable trip through Burnie and on to our destination.

Accurate coordinates lead us straight to the hide but the cache initially eluded us. It is always amazing how a large cache, well camouflaged, can disappear into its surroundings. Once our caching eyes turned on we spotted the well hidden cache. On opening the container we found a well stocked cache and a blank log book giving us a {FTF} at 10:20.

Thanks for this cache and the nice little puzzle Sharnie's Tribe.
