Description

This is another of my favourite picnic places - Budd Park at Murwillumbah

I love picnics and BBQs and insist that we have one on a regular basis. This cache is the part of a series on some of my favourite picnic and/or BBQ places. For each of them I will describe what I particularly like about each spot and what facilities each one has just in case you are planning your own picnic.

This is Budd Park which is on the river just before you go over the bridge into Murwillumbah. It a nice big open space with several picnic tables. Some of the picnic tables are under cover, others are under the trees which can be a problem because the trees have seedpods which sometimes fall onto the tables - so bring a cloth to wipe it down. There is only one BBQ and its only near two tables. We prefer to use the park for picnics or morning tea.  The park has toilets over near the old information centre. There is an information sign about the old wharf that used to be here. There is also a pontoon but we have never seen anyone fishing, swimming, or tying up their boat on it. Keep an eye open on the river, sometimes you can see some very interesting things. One day when were there some people rowing racing sculls. They had a race while we were there, I kept on cheering for the red boat but the blue boat won.

I have hidden the cache under my favourite table. Its the favourite table of lots of other people too so you might have to be patient. If you really want an extra clue I have put a picture in the gallery which might help.

Nothing here except an encampment and a lot of rubbish. Didn't find a cache, but took a photo of the location. If there is any objection to me claiming "Found It" let me know and I will withdraw it.

Four and a half years later we're finally back to look for the cache. Last time GZ was getting set up for a picnic so the hunt was abandoned before it even got started. This time there were quite a few settlers in the park with some taking over picnic tables as their own bit of living space. Fortunately GZ wasn't one of them. There wasn't any tablecloth laying muggles either so we were able to grab the cache. A very neat little hide you found here SambooBear. Clapping TFTC.

Had the opportunity to call in and check on this cache. Its still there and the logbook is still in good condition.

Its survived a couple of floods. Little nano, you are awesome!

We found this cache during a night walk through town. This was a nice spot to rest, although we had actually visited here earlier in the day while completing an Adventure Lab.
Oh well, doesn't hurt to visit some places twice.
Thanks for the cache!

We had just walked through Murwillumbah to do the Adventure Lab, so while Samuel worked out the last clue (its on the sign!) I set out looking (feeling!) for this, without luck. Then the little bugger comes over and spots it in a few seconds - I was about to check that spot! Smile Of course it's in perfect condition. We signed and carefully rolled it up - it should be good for another couple of years! TFTC!

It's still there!

We were in Murwillumbah today and my favourite picnic table in m favourite picnic place was FREE.... so we sat down and had lunch there. I got Suzy to check underneath (I don't like putting my paws where I can't see them, besides which they were holding chocolate at the time) and pretty soon she pulled out the cache. Wow!

After checking that the logsheet was ok, she put it back and I could get back to my lunch.

Yay!

I'm sorry Samboo and Co. I couldn't find it. Too tricky for me.

Caching in the area with whitewebbs and this was one of the caches we found. Enjoyed a nice meal at the nearby pub then ventured to this lovely park for another SambooBear Park cache. A sneaky hide that we needed the hint for.

Many thanks SambooBearfor publishing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience.

Day 76 Mainland trip
Out and about caching in Murwillumbah and we stopped to find this cache. Luckily not picnic weather. Cache found and log signed. We had a nice lunch at the nearby Riverview Hotel. TFTC

Ok so this was at least our 4th attempt because of muggles but we finally secured this one on an afternoon bike ride. Hardest part was putting the log back in lol. TFTC

If we'd been five minutes earlier we could have looked for the cache. Not today . . . . not with a tablecloth getting laid (which reminds us of an old joke) and a picnic being prepared. A cache for another day..

Stopped by here to locate the cache on our way home to Brisbane. TFTC

I've been to Murwillumbah a few times lately, but never long enough to find a cache (dang work getting in the way!). But I had the day off today, and wanted to grab a couple of GCA caches, and this was one of them!

Samboo, I can see why you like to picnic here. The sun was perfect, the gardens were well tended, and there were BBQ and plenty of seating. I decided to have a mini picnic myself. Unfortunately, the coffee soon ran out and I had to be on my way... but I like to eat a few times a day, so I'll check out another picnic spot of yours today too.

The cache itself was a sneaky little hide, I'm glad you gave me a little hint there Samboo, I'm a bit useless at finding these little caches without a prod in the right direction!

Great cache and location, thanks SambooBear!

We had a picnic in Budd Park today and I was very excited to see two signatures on my cache.

I am logging this as a maintenance to say that we visited it and checked that it was ok. Not too many people around here do GCA caches and I thought that if I checked the cache and wrote a maintenance log each time I visit my favourite places then everyone will know that it ought to be there and that its ok.

I hope that sounds right.

Starting at 10am in Alstonville we went caching at Bangalow, swimmining at Sharpe's Beach at Byron, caching in Burringbah, a walk to the rail tunnel to grab the caches and see the glow worms and then ending with some caching in this town.

With no physical GCA hides near to where I live apart from the ones I own, this cache was a must. A little tricky to find but that is good considering where it is located so close to muggles. It was dark when we grabbed this one but the park still looked like a great place for a picnic.

Thanks SambooBear for the chance to find a GCA hide.

FTF for me and I also signed the log for my son WillPunkey. Sorry for the handwriting. My pen was not playing nice.
