Description
This is another of my favourite picnic places - Lions Park at Tallebudgera Valley
I love picnics and BBQs and insist that we have one on a regular basis. This cache is the start of a series on some of my favourite picnic and/or BBQ places. For each of them I will describe what I particularly like about each spot and what facilities each one has just in case you are planning your own picnic.
This is Lions Park in Tallebudgeera Valley. Sometimes it gets called the Syndicate Road Park. I really love this picnic spot. Its right beside a little bubbling creek which is great to splash about in or make rock stacks. There are lots of trees and birds. It smells amazing in spring, and is very cool in summer, plus you have to go on a bit of a drive through the country to get there, so that’s always a bit of an adventure.
The park has three picnic tables under cover and one BBQ, although the BBQ is not working at the moment. There is a little playground for the kids. The only things that stops it from being perfect is that there is no tap for drinking water, so you need to make sure you bring your own; and the toilets are the composting type – so they can get a bit stinky if people don’t use them the right way. But if you hold your nose and remember to close the lid you should be ok. There is water to wash your hands but I would not like to drink it.
The park is really long and narrow. Up one end away from the picnic area is a bit of a swimming hole where people seem to have a lot of fun.. The creek is a bit shallower down the other end near the picnic area, so it depends on how much rain we have had as to how deep it is. It might only come up to your knees or it might come up to your chest. If you do go swimming or wading, be careful because there are no lifeguards.
There are lots of smooth rocks around in the creek bank. Max and I like to make stacks from the rocks. One day we got a stack to be nine rock high before it toppled over. We’ve made a Virtual Cache called GA11142 Making Rock Stacks at Lions Park about making rock stacks here. So you could get two smilies for one park.
