Geocaching long weekend, we moved our van/house/base to Pioneer Park and set out to pick up the geoart in the area.
Operating on the 'not found recently doesn't mean not there' theory we headed in to find the two tunnels. Sadly after a lot of searching about we came up empty.
Really need to take in repair or replace kits on these walks. Thanks for bringing us here.

This tunnel was larger than the other - certainly was more impressive

Took the longer way to walk to this cache, and then it took me quite a while to actually find cache.
Found this cache on a 2 day trip to the NW, covering over 1000 kms and finding around 100 caches of both GCA and GC

We've been to Ferndene reserve a number of times. Its a lovely little spot and not far away - an excellent place to take visitors. Today we popped out in the afternoon with Lady Altaire's visiting brother for a bit of fungal photography - as well as the pleasant creek side walk itself. At Brownings tunnel the clue enabled a quick find. All in order with the cache.

A flying visit to the North West Coast in an effort to score Dragonzone Points today.

Left Huonville at 0730 hours and got back at 2215 hours
A round trip of 740 kilometres to score 14 caches
Finding those 14 caches required me to walk a total of 8.52 kilometres using 11088 steps and causing me to burn 1930 calories – great exercise.

The weather could not have been better; no wind, lots of sunshine and blue skies with very little cloud – about 18 degrees all day; BEAUTIFUL!

Didn't enter either tunnel for three reasons:
My torch was missing;
Pushed for time;
and the tunnel floors were too wet for the footwear I had on - next time hopefully.
What a great little walk - bubbling creek, bush noises, man ferns, solitude, good weather - great exercise.
Once again caching has taken me to a spot that I did not know about and would have never visited were it not for this sport - Thank You!

After catching up on some chores around home we headed off to meet up with family for a picnic tea in Ulverstone but we thought that we'd leave a bit earlier than needed so we could detour via Ferndene. We were sure that 2y'stassies would have been out bright and early with two FTFs on offer so we wandered through the lovely cool bush tracks with no idea that mr 2y'stassies was not far behind us. I hadn't been right into Ferndene for many years and mr sharnie's tribe had never been much further than the carpark so really enjoyed the walk. Made a quick find at GZ with the help of the detailed hint and we were very surprised to find an empty logbook so FTF at 4.05pm. Thanks SiriusTas for a very enjoyable walk in a lovely bush setting

After a very busy Christmas and New Year period, the last of family who had been staying with us left this morning to head back to Townsville. We have such a backlog of caching at present that we have become a little overwhelmed. So today was the start of catching up. Firstly we had to start preparing a number of cache containers for hides for the States Of The Nation summer games. With that task well underway, Mrs y'stassie started to prepared logbooks and goodies for each cache. By late in the day we were ready to hide some caches. So Mrs y'stassie headed off to find hides for at least eight of over 2o that we want to hide in the next week. Mr y'stassie started to work on the puzzles for each of the caches. We are hoping to get the caches published in the next few days. When he had completed as much as he could without having the final coordinates of the hides, he looked around for some nearby caches. The two new Sirius Tas caches (Brownings Tunnel and Thorsbys Tunnel) jumped out as ideal candidates, especially as they were in the very lovely Ferndene area.

When he arrived at the carpark there was one other car. He didn't take too much notice and started off on the lovely walk to Brownings Tunnel. It was a beautiful afternoon for the walk. After about 20 minutes he got to Brownings Tunnel and was able to make a quick find. It was a pleasant surprise when the logbook was opened as Sharnie's Tribe had achieved the FTF just 10 minutes earlier. So, they must have been further up the track towards Thorsbys Tunnel. A couple of minutes later Mr y'stassie met Sharnie's Tribe returning to their car after having found the Thorsbys Tunnel cache. Catching up out in the field is becoming quite a habit. Two days earlier our paths crossed in Launceston. It is always good to catch up with them and we spent a few minutes discussing the caching world before heading our separate ways.

Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Sirius Tas for both of your tunnel caches in the Ferndene Reserve. It is a lovely place to visit and your two caches gave the excuse needed to revisit the area. Congratulations to Sharnie's Tribe on your two FTFs.
