2017 is an exciting year for Hugh Hamilton Wines. We are celebrating 180 years since Hugh’s great, great grandfather came to South Australia in 1837 and planted what were the first vines in the new colony and made the first wine here.

Hugh’s daughter, Mary Hamilton, is the only person from the 6th generation to still be in business, this makes us the family with the longest continual presence in the Australian wine industry today.

Hugh is the 5th generation of the Australian Hamilton dynasty. As with all families one is a Black Sheep and Hugh Hamilton is it. His wines are far from ordinary. Hugh has a clear vision about the way he sees wines and he produces accordingly. Hugh’s legacy continues as Mary Hamilton, his daughter, is now the CEO of the family winery and brings insight, energy and enormous talent to this exciting winery.

Hugh Hamilton Wines exists to create exceptional wines, topics of conversation & new experiences. If you’re ready to learn something new, taste something unique and be wowed with service, you’ve arrived in the right place.

Every element of this winery, from our Cellar Door experiences and our friendly and passionate staff to our exciting Wine Club, the Black Sheep Club, and our premium range of eclectic wines is designed by the family themselves to be of an outstanding quality.

found it after a day of sparkling shiraz - cache is in great condition apart from a few spiders taking residence due to this not being found for a very long time! TFTC

As suggested, parked a little further up the road and took the short walk back to GZ for a nice quick find. One of these days I'll have to do this tour again and taste along the way as well!
Cheers & TFTC J_&_J

What an interesting history this family winery has with 6 generations of the family involved. There were plenty of signs with black sheep on them so the family are obviously proud of this.

The cache notes are spot on -no safe parking close to the hide. We parked up the road and walked back. We had to take care as there was a lot of farm machinery on the road with their associated escort vehicles. There was also a lot of activity over the road so we had to take care when extracting and returning the cache container. Container and contents were in good condition.

Thanks J_&_J for the cache and the information about the history of the Hugh Hamilton winery.
