Description

Cache is a small screwtop with logbook, pencil and swaps.

Cache is at an old mining adit beside the southern side of Dial Creek.

The best access is off the Penguin Cradle Trail which leaves Dial Road, south past the motor cross track, at the top of rise after passing through the boom gate.

Along the PCT and within 40m or so of gz, pink tape(placed by NWWC I suspect) marks the path to Dial Creek which ends at a small waterfall, which is worth seeing...though just a trickle at present.

Just before the falls(15m or so), a small wattle with pink tapes marks the entrance to the adit and cache.

You would need gumboots if venturing inside. Shining a powerful torch inside I couldn't see the end.

Many thanks to Tassyexplorer for finding and placing a GC cache here originally, but archived many moons ago.

Enjoy!

In the area caching and stopped to grab this cache. Managed to get wet feet but found it. An interesting spot to visit. TFTC

Took the short detour off the PCT down to the adit. As indicated in the notes the mine is quite wet and muddy inside so didn't venture in - maybe another day. Cache was easily located - interesting spot.

This afternoon after we finished work we decided to make a last minute dash on some caches to get our find numbers up for the blitz game. In total we attempted 8 cache find and we managed to find them all Very Happy
We parked at the top where the pct track heads down to the leven river when about 40-50 meters from ground zero we followed what looked like a track heading down into the creek, there was no pink tape to mark the trail like mentioned. We arrived at ground zero and scrambled over the creek where we made a quick find. The logbook was wet but we managed to sign the log, after we put the cache back we walked around the corner to look at the waterfall. TFTC Clan Cerberus

Found on a caching run down the coast. Took the 4x4 track to the river - a beautiful spot. Walked to GZ and made a quick find once the adit was found. Cache and contents in good condition. The waterfall was flowing thanks for bringing us here.

Many thanks Sirius Tas for publishing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience.

We had kept this cache to fill a gap in our Finds by Day of the Year Dragonzone graph. As today was very warm we waited for the temperature to drop a bit before heading of to Penguin and a walk along the Penguin to Cradle track. It was a very peaceful walk down the track. Parts of the early section have been very cut up by 4WDs which was disappointing to see but further on the fine. We made our way down hill to the creek and across to the adit where we soon spotted another good Sirius hide. Container and contents were in good condition. As the log book was blank we will claim {FTF} at 20:05

After replacing the cache in its neat hide we made our way back to the main PCT. It was time to continue on to attend to some maintenance on a near by cache.

Thanks for the cache and for bringing us back to this area Sirius Tas. We had last been here some years ago to find one of Tasstexplorer's now archived caches. Well worth a visit.
