Description
The first in a series of caches located on the hills of Clarence.
I've walked up a lot of hills in Clarence over the years and each one gives a slightly different perspective of Hobart.
So which hill in Clarence has the best view? Has the best walking track? Is the best for getting away from crowds?
The caches may not be located at the top of each hill, but it will be located near to an area where there is a good view, so stop, soak it up and maybe take a photo.
Gordon's Hill
"Named after Harry Gordon (? - 30/8/1905), a surveyor who lived at Lindisfarne (Beltana) and who owned this land around this hill, and which he acquired from W P Brownell on 19/10/1895."
Reference: Placenames Tasmania which is the register of all official Tasmanian names assigned by the Nomenclature Board of Tasmania under the Survey Co-ordination Act 1944 (https://www.placenames.tas.gov.au/).
I walked up and down this hill a lot in my youth. There used to be a fitness track with equipment dotted around the hill. The walk around the hill is actually a bit of a challenge with some quite steep sections which can be tricky after a lot of rain. I still like to walk up this hill occasionally with my dog, there aren't a lot of people that walk around the track, and we usually see quite a few wallabies. It doesn't take that long to get to an area where you get a great view of the mountain.
Enjoy the walk. You will need to bring a writing implement. Please rehide the cache carefully ensuring it is well hidden.

Down south on a bitterly cold frosty morning.
Just came from Budgies cache on the old golf course...so a good climb up the hill.
A few good sized Bennetts Wallabies bounding around towards the top.
Great views in spots.
Cache found all in top nick.
One big advantage from up here...the rest of my caches to find are all down hill
Many tftc...thoroughly enjoyed...cheers ST.
thanks for the cache
I'd forgotten how nice it is up here
Many thanks Lil Rafa for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
The walk up was enjoyable and she soon located the well hidden cache container. Container and contents were in good condition. After signing and replacing it was off down hill to look for the caches below.
Thanks for this cache Lil Rafa. It is some years since we were last here and we had forgotten how high up the top of the hill is. Enjoyed looking out over the settlement below. There seem to be some big mobs of wallaby in this reserve. Coordinates were spot on.
A nice easy find.
Lucky there wasn't anyone playing in the nearby fort.

Woke and needed a few caches to obtain a goal today
Took off with Anne and after finding two caches in the Styx area, we drove toward this cache
The walk to and from the cache was enjoyable, but quick as it looked like it might rain
Sainted the cache at 1512 hours with a very quick find
Thanks for the *FTF*
Today's trip was 350 km in the car; walking 10.25 km using 13582 steps while burning 1696 calories
