I knew about the Trig point cache at the top of Australia but only recently discovered this Virtual cache.. so.. as I’m about to fly over that area I think it’s a good time to log this one. What can I remember of the walk to the Australian mainland’s highest point? It was cold, wet and VERY windy.. but well worth the effort! The staff at the lifts collectively tried to talk me out of walking to the summit. I tried to explain that I’ve climbed mountains a lot bigger than this one on significantly more challenging routes in significantly worse weather but I was ignored. I eventually figured out they weren’t telling me I couldn’t go, they were just trying to talk me out of it. They ignored me so I ignored them and walked to the top of Australia in inclement weather on a well made, easy to follow, and clearly well maintained track. A simple walk up a gentle slope to the summit of Mount Kosciusko. The only negative of the day was a lack of views. Even the Trig couldn’t be viewed as it was covered in tarps due to new stonework maintenance. So, I got to the top of Australia and saw nothing, just cloud and fog haha. I will definitely return to this summit as I have a lot more to complete on my extensive to-do list in this area. Thanks for triggering great memories and thanks for the cache

we've been talking about it for a few years and finally did it. There were a lot of people thinking the same this Easter weekend, but was glorious
A grand day out climbing Mt Kosciuszko what a momentus moment to find myself up here on top of Australia. Awesome!
I joined the hordes of people heading up to the summit of Australia this weekend. The main job was to have a CITO at the top which was very successful at collecting all the rubbish up there, even though there was not much. I grabbed a shared image at the top as I was not interested in joining the 20 deep queue to climb the cairn.
Thanks

This was the whole reason we travelled up from Tassie.
After waiting for all the kids to clear off we got our chance to take our picture with the trig
Thanks for the trig, won't be logging any higher than this

Well you already know we made it up the mountain today along with a few hundred muggles. A lady suddenly cleared her tribe of semi feral kids away and told us to step in and she would take our photos. Who am I to argue,I just did as I was told! My GPS was in my bag so I got a second photo from further away, out of the reach of the masses, not to mention those despicable ferals. I hope that us acceptable.
Thanks Tassie Trekkers. We had a fantastic day.

MrT has been to the cairn a couple of times. The most memorable was with Climbing Son. They chose to go in the month of May as there was snow. The first time they got caught in a blizzard and had to give up, but the next time there was snow but they were able to go all the way up. They reached the cairn and got photos. Photo is of MrT at the cairn. TFTC
There were a lot of people up here and I actually had to wait to get a photo taken. Thankfully another visitor offered to take it for me. Unfortunately the quality isn't that great.
I joined a small group to attend an event on top of Kosciuszko for Australia Day. So many people here today that it was hard to get a photo with the cairn - you can see it in the background with an Aussie flag draped over it. TFTC

An enjoyable hike in 60km/h winds which we completed in about 80 minutes from Thredbo.

We had a beaut walk across the slopes partially covered with snow, the kids having a snowball fight as they do. Really enjoyed being able to walk to the top of Australia, so naturally beautiful. TFTC
Before the Mega in November 2017 we visited Canberra and then went down to Jindabyne and Thredbo for a few days. We took the opportunity to climb Mt Kosciusko. The day started off very fine but our return was accompanied by thunder storms, lightning (to the extent that the chair lift was closed), hail and rain. Never the less, we had a great day and achieved one of our long term goals - to get to the Top of Australia. the required photo has been added to the Gallery. Thanks Tassie Trekkers for the cache.
Yep, been there a couple times, with the last visit being in March 15.
Thanks for the virtual Tassie Trekkers.

We did this walk 9th January, on Sydney's hottest day, but thevwind on Australia 's highest mountain was very cooling. Thanks to Tassie Trekkers.
After enjoying a picnic on the top of Australia, we waited out the muggles before stepping up for our photo with that fantastic view in the background.

Wow the view from here never ceases to amaze me. We've been camped at Island Bend for a few days. The two up is always popular but we pushed through the crowds to take the obligatory photo. Fun.
