Description
It's not what you think!
Welcome to the Mount Palmer area Western Australia. This area is best visited between August and October when wildflowers are present and temperatures are cooler during the days. Bush flies are also less problematic. Overnight temperatures often fall below zero at this time of year. The area is remote and you should be appropriately equipped for an unplanned, extended stay. It is advisable not to travel here with a single vehicle. Telstra mobile coverage drops in and out around the old Mt Palmer townsite.
Access to this cache is best made via Emu Fence Rd. Follow the signs to Mt Palmer. The road is subject to flooding and is unsealed. A 4WD vehicle is recommended. There are small diversion tracks around frequently flooded areas. Be sure to visit the Mt Palmer Hotel ruins and Old Mine workings. CAUTION! - there are numerous open shafts in the area. Children and dogs need to be kept on a short lead!
Happy Hunting!
ABSOLUTE SPOILER - cache location.
Logs
whilst in the are to pick up other caches
Next time I'll try a better road and in a 4WD.
I made the customary detour to the cemetery
This cemetery, like the towne, did not operate for long.
So it has only three known burials.
One of the headstones is still clearly readable though
The other two graves are marked but the names on the makeshift headstones bear no resemblence to the information on the sign at the parking area
A quick poke around revealed why the cache has such an odd name for a cemetery visit
And the cache was found not far away.
All good with this box !!

What a fantastic location this is, remnants of town that has been swallowed up by the Bush.
A real pleasure to get to this cache, only the second Geocacher in approaching five years..!!
However...... lots of other notes had been written in the log book by muggle visitors to the cemetery.
it seems its a regular spot for decedents of the original pioneers to come searching looking for graves of there long lost relatives....
They consequently come across the Cache and have written notes as to why they are there.
So interesting stuff.
The box was unfortunately full of water, cracked and broken when I found it.
So have saved as many of the contents as possible and replaced the container with a new Sistema which should be good for some while.
Left at the same coords.
Cheers for the cache and sharing the areas history.
The Machman,
