GeosportZ 2018
GeosportZ is running from : 01-Apr-2018 00:00:00 to 29-Apr-2018 23:59:59 AEST and during this time the the 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games,which is an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth is currently being held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia between 4 and 15 April 2018.
GeosportZ 2018 is all about geocaching based on the disciplines found in the Commonwealth Games. Try your hand at Diving, Rugby Sevens, Squash, Ten Pin Bowling, Cricket, Rugby League and many, many more disciplines. There are lots of different disciplines and related challenges to choose from during this game. Some will be easy. Some will be tough. Some may be impossible.
To log a claim, please take a a screen shot/dump or photo of the computer screen showing your name on the GeosportZ ladder (at any stage). This is all the proof you need to claim a smiley. One claim per team.
Now get out there and enjoy the GeosportZ games and also the Commonwealth Games. This is the fifth time Australia has hosted the games.

Not bad since we drove from Melbourne to the Gold Coast to attend the Commonwealth Games and then continued to holiday in Cairns for the rest of the month. My husband is not a geocacher so I had to fit geocaching around our holiday plans.

Not a high score for me this time around but I lucked out and got a path tag. The lack of participation was partly caused by lack of access to a vehicle for most of the month as work decided I was no longer a field person and didn't need one anymore, something I now have to sort out so I can get back out there finding caches again!
I had a slow game with only 5 finds but lucked out with being in a prize winning position on the ladder at the end of the game

I was scanning down through the list of all the Locationless caches looking for one specific one and having no success finding. I did, however, find a few that I can claim. This is one of them.
I really enjoy the various GCA games but often have trouble being fully involved. I have very little spare time to travel and I have no unfound caches within 100km of home. This year I managed to hide a couple of new caches and log a small number of qualifying finds to end up with a score, albeit a small score. It's some consolation that I managed to score just slightly better than one of the game creators.

Another excellent GCA game that had us driving all over. As well as our planned visit to the Lake Macquarie OzGeoMuster we had trips to Armidale, Port Macquarie, Inverell and Gunnedah to find qualifying caches and post some weirdly embarrassing photos. 
We finished on place 19, hanging out for someone to shoot past and drop us into the gold winning 20th spot. It didn't happen but we had a lot of fun waiting to see if it did. Thanks Geocaching Australia for another awesome game

My photo shows me sitting nicely at the bottom of the ladder with my one claim and 4 points. (I wanted to have one claim so I had been part of the game.) Mind you, I've approved a whole lot of claims for other people. Been a lot of fun....looking forward to the next one.

Yesterday morning I woke to find that I was 17th after being in the top ten at 9th position, the night before.
After a concerted effort on a crazy day out I clawed my way back up to 7th place, but expect to be shunted down again very quickly.
It’s been a fun competition and I’ve enjoyed the challenge, even though I’ve had to post embarrassing photos in the process.
Good luck to all competitors, it’s been great to get out and about, and seeing things in a different light.
