Description
The Penguin Cradle Trail, one of Tasmania's Eight Great Bushwalks, is an 80km walk that takes you from Penguin, a town on the North West Coast to the northern bdry of the Cradle Mountain NP. The walk gives a variety of experiences ranging from coastal views to mountain panoramas, from walking along a wild river to climbing over mountain ranges.
The PCT difficulty varies from easy/medium on the northern sections to quite difficult from Gunns Plains to Loongana Rd. and quite hard up over the Black Bluff Range and onto the Cradle Mt. NP.

Geocaches will be released in sections where possible to aid access, but will take some months to complete.
To complete the PCT series and to log the last cache, geocachers MUST LOG every geocache plus there will be randomly placed Penguin caches, where you will need to note which actual PCT # the penguin has been placed. These numbers will be required to access the last cache, which will have an appropriate reward for effort.
Most of the cache logs are in bison tubes, inside another container. A match is placed in the log to aid in rolling back up...so PLEASE make sure it goes back in to help other cachers.
All caches except the Penguins have an inkstick...so please take one with you plus notepad to record the Penguin #'s.

This was an easy find TFTC
Today we targetted the PCT trail with whitewebbs and gooseandegg. An enjoyable walk with stunning scenery beside the Leven River. A long but rewarding trek - continuing downhill. Cache and contents in good condition.

As a result, I was able to take advantage of the situation and do some caching today
After finding caches around East Devonport this morning before our visit to the hospital today, I came over here and started the trail walk
Weather: 13 degrees Celsius Fine, sunny and blue skies with some cloud
Travel: For the day, I totalled 14.91 kilometres burning 2293 calories which required 19907 steps Needless to say, my legs are not in LOVE with me at the moment but they will learn to forgive me.

Had noticed a lack of animal life in the area - this area explained why.

We spotted the hide as we were approaching and had soon extracted another Sirius Tas container from its cover. Container and contents were in very good condition. a pristine log sheet gave us our second {FTF} for the morning at 7:10. The coordinates were spot on.
After replacing the container and repositioning the covering material we tossed up whether we had time to go on to the next in the series. As we had appointments to keep at 9:00 and 9:30 we decided to leave the rest of this section of the trail for another day.
Thanks for this cache in the series Sirius Tas. We look forward to continuing our trek along the PCT in the near future.
