Today I test walked the track from the girl guides camp at Kum Ba Yaa[sp] to the Mt Keira lookout: About an hour.

On the way back I decided to find some caches and this one popped up as a happy GCA one! TFTC!

Long time between drinks for this one...second find in 8 years. Not only that, no dZ points on it either. Wow.

In the area to grab a few GCA caches and this was the next one on the list. Parked over on the road into the scout camp, making sure I was off the road as much as possible. From there it was back over the road and then a decesion on which way/track to follow. As it turned out I picked the right way to go, and after following the GPSr arrow for a little while, I was at GZ. Still took a good 5 minutes of searching before the nice little ammo can was in hand, but as they say, alls well that ends well.

Signed the log, which for its age, wasn't that bad. Grabbed a photo of the logbook and cache contents before packing everything up, replacing the cache and heading back to the car.

Thanks Gribbly...great to find these older GCA caches still in location and in good nic....just shows how good an ammo can is.!!!!

Well this is my 400th cache! Woot! I had planned to find this more than a year ago but got distracted during extracting a gc.com from a termite mound.... So I have saved this up and was wanting to make a GCA cache a "milestone" cache for me. Actually was planning to find it on the long weekend but then noticed if I waited for another week, I could claim a GCA virtual for finding an "unloved cache". Nice.

I have to say caching is becoming harder and harder for me. Family life is under significant stress and caching is taking a back seat. So I left the family with screams echoing from the house and I thought "maybe my 400th should be my last". A quick drive and I parked near the scout camp. It was a lovely day for a walk on the escarpment. I made my way to the track, got lost a bit before following some vehicle tracks to GZ. Seems some of Gribbly's friends had been here in the past weeks. Was it muggled? Was it covered by there handywork? A move closer to GZ revealed the exposed cache. Signed the moldy log (noticed it had been found by a muggle) and provide some good camo. My mood had lifted and went to enjoy the view. Another pleasant walk back to the car and then to return home. It was worse at home than when I left. So maybe this is my last cache..... And thanks to Gribbly for providing yet another great cache.

Finally took the time to do the detour. Had no problems finding the track in. Took some caution because I thought I heard some scouts in the nearby vicinity. Spectacular views over Lake Illawarra from here!

what a cache. I was with some caching friends and we wanted to get one before dark and this was it. I did not have topography loaded onto my gps so was unprepared for the hunt. it got dark. we had one torch. it was really steep in places. we realized the way we SHOULD have come later. but we got a huge thrill out of this one. thankyou heaps for the hide... the log book should be put in a ziplock bag (didn't have one on me) as it was getting mouldy. I left a pirate tag TB37FY0 here that maybe I shouldn't have as I didn't realize until I got home that this was a GCA cache. damn. I hate making mistakes like that... and It's not like I can just go and grab it back now... damn. sorry

I had no idea where the track was but presumed it must be close to the scout park & so it was. On my way up to claim the Trig so took the opportunity. Ignored the signs saying all walking tracks closed due to high fire danger. My attempt at the Trig at Bass Point had been stymied as the gates were locked so these warnings were always going to be ignored. Followed an old 4WD track & soon had the cache in hand. Signed the log & left a piece of Tigers Eye. Then went & had a quick look at the view. Thanks.

Thanks Gribbly for another walk in some of the best bush in Australia.
After doing the cache bit I walked out to the edge of the escarpment and just sat and watched for a good ten minutes. What a great place to live!!!!

Like Homedg, I can't understand why some cachers ignore GCA caches. After all, a cache is a cache. And this one is an excellent example, being a well stocked ammo can in a scenic location at the end of a short walk in an historic area. Thanks Gribbly.

Woo Hoo - *FTF* .
Down in Wollongong to check out some business prospects and couldn't resist checking to see if this one had need discovered. Really enjoyed the stroll along the track and after finding a well stocked ammo can (always a bonus) I strolled a bit further and took in the magnificent views for a while.

An excellent cache.
Thanks

(I really don't understand why more people don't do GCA caches, they're really missing out.)
