PCT #15 Rail Tracks North Motton, Tasmania, Australia

This was my turn around point. This section of the track along the river is very pretty. Only one spot this could be.

Today with the company of Trimbletas we completed the penguin to cradle track series and and a few others. We found 25 caches along the way with only 1 that we didn’t find. We majorly underestimated how long this walk would take from the start to hardstaff creek, there was a lot of challenges along the way. Once we finally made it to hardstaff creek we had to make a decision do we try to go out via the farm at purtons flats (we knew the farmer) or do we walk back. When we got back to where the pct track went off the gravel road we thought whether to go back along the river or to follow the gravel road out to dial road, decision was made to walk the gravel road back to dial road and have someone pick us up to take us back to the car at the start. The hill up from the pct track was brutal but once we got up it it was fairly easy walking till we had to climb up to dial road. Overall was a long but enjoyable day really had a great time completing this series.

Found in the company of DEZ055. We couldn't have picked a better day than the first day of winter to tackle the Penguin Cradle Trail. I have been wanting to walk this trail for a long time. I have walked parts of the trail previously. This is my first attempt in walking from the Penguin end through to Hardstaff Creek. Well the legs are well and truly cooked today, but mission accomplished after walking roughly 23kms. We have completed all of the caches so far in this series.

Mr whitewebbs, Mr Tassie Trekkers a goose and an egg (sounds like the start of a joke, but no joke) headed off early to walk the PCT trail. The walk started at the southern end at #23 and after 6 hours and 14 kms later we arrived at Penguin Cradle Trail No. 1 and the pick up point. It was a great trail with great company, fantastic weather and a great series of caches to find. Thanks sirius Tas for placing the caches along it. We found the whole series of the PCT caches and quite a few others along the way. It was an area Mr W had not been in before and he really enjoyed the trail. TFTC

Today we targetted the PCT trail with whitewebbs and gooseandegg. An enjoyable walk with stunning scenery beside the Leven River. A long but rewarding trek. Cache and contents in good condition.

Walking the PCT trail from the southern end with whitewebbs and Tassie Trekkers, the egg and I had a wonderful but exhausting walk! We found every cache (so far??) in this series plus a couple of others along the way so we were pleased. Thanks for bringing us on another one of your adventure trails sirius Tas.

This cache was the final one on our list today and signaled the end of our walk along this section of the PCT. The section between PCT#14 and PCT#15 passes through open bush and some beautiful manfern glades. You also need to negotiate two creek crossings and several fallen trees. One creek crossing was almost dry but the other was quite boggy and slippery. We again read the hint before reaching the area near the hide so spotted the object mentioned well before we got close enough to search. Our GPS's we indicating between 17 and 5 m away but settled to 5m by the time we had signed the log and returned the cache container to its neat little hiding spot. This was another nice spot to sit and enjoy the quiet of the bush and the sound of the water flowing down the river. There was a good amount of water in the Leven today.

Then cache and contents were in good condition and as the log sheet was blank we will claim our fourth {FTF} at 10:35. The match remained with the log sheet this time. We did spot a section of railway iron as we left the track to search for the cache. A reminder of the logging and mining days of this area.

Thanks for this cache in the PCT series Sirius Tas. We only have one left to find and will keep that for another day. We look forward to further additions to this series. We feel that we know this section very well after three separate visits in a short period of time.
