Description
PLEASE NOTE:: PCT #22 can be accessed via a well gravelled AWD/4WD track, which turns off Dial Rd 50m past the Penguin Cradle Trail. The track past PCT #22 is on PRIVATE PROPERTY...so best to park 130m away at S41 11.867 E146 03.247, although the previous 500m or so is quite steep...but I had no trouble in 4wd high range...but if unsure park at the top.
The Penguin Cradle Trail, one of Tasmania's Eight Great Bushwalks, is an 80km walk that takes you from Penguin, a town on the North West Coast to the northern bdry of the Cradle Mountain NP. The walk gives a variety of experiences ranging from coastal views to mountain panoramas, from walking along a wild river to climbing over mountain ranges.
The PCT difficulty varies from easy/medium on the northern sections to quite difficult from Gunns Plains to Loongana Rd. and quite hard up over the Black Bluff Range and onto the Cradle Mt. NP.
Track notes and maps are available at.. http://www.nwwc.org.au/index.php/penguin-cradle-trail
Geocaches will be released in sections where possible to aid access, but will take some months to complete.
To complete the PCT series and to log the last cache, geocachers MUST LOG every geocache plus there will be randomly placed Penguin caches, where you will need to note which actual PCT # the penguin has been placed. These numbers will be required to access the last cache, which will have an appropriate reward for effort.
Most of the cache logs are in bison tubes, inside another container. A match is placed in the log to aid in rolling back up...so PLEASE make sure it goes back in to help other cachers.
All caches except the Penguins have an inkstick...so please take one with you plus notepad to record the Penguin #'s.
SO....ARE YOU up for a challenge?
If so...GLTA.....and please take all safety precautions at ALL TIMES.
Enjoy!

Then cache and contents were in good condition and as the log sheet was blank we will claim our fourth {FTF} at 10:35. The match remained with the log sheet this time. We did spot a section of railway iron as we left the track to search for the cache. A reminder of the logging and mining days of this area.
Thanks for this cache in the PCT series Sirius Tas. We only have one left to find and will keep that for another day. We look forward to further additions to this series. We feel that we know this section very well after three separate visits in a short period of time.
