Description
After attending the OzGeoMuster over Easter 2018 we headed North and stopped at Lightning Ridge and as Mrs W loves history caches, another one has been created. We had actually stopped on the other side of the road to view Stanley the Emu (which has a GCA cache nearby), so now there are two smileys on offer in the area.
If you have ever wondered how Lightning Ridge got its name, then this plaque reveals all.
Lightning Ridge was originally known as Nettleton's Hill after Charles Nettleton who discovered opal in the the district in 1902 but was later renamed Warrangulla by the New South Wales Lands Department but after World War I it was named Lightning Ridge.
Please answer the following questions from the plaques at GZ and select the correct answers by choosing questions and answers under Actions on the RH side of the cache page. When you select the answers correctly you will receive a code to log to claim a smiley. Please copy and paste this code into the "Codeword" box when logging the find.

Thanks for the cache
Wayn0 just taught me about "cows in series", so I guess that may have happened, maybe. Or were they all huddled for shelter from the storm under the one tree that was struck? Would have to be a big tree!
That must have been one impressive lightning strike.
Thanks for the history cache!

I love every different town I visit. I love the different coffee shops I find. I love every different thing I photograph. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own. I enjoy taking my time and meandering around rather than going from one cache to the next and so on… The geocaches are a great bonus of my travels. It's amazing to see the country in the eyes of a Geocacher. Thank you for adding this historic cache to my real-life treasure hunt. I appreciate your efforts whitewebbs.
Thanks for the history lesson WhiteWebbs...always a bit of fun.

Thanks for the cache.
A little divergence into Lightning Ridge and ran into someone Greg went to school with while we looked at opals.
Thank goodness for GCA caches as the journey would have been quite boring
Thanks for placing this cache Whitewebbs. We learn something new everyday.

We passed this one after leaving Dirranbandi earlier today. We have visited ‘Stanley’ three or four times in the past but never come to the rest stop, so it was good to learn a little more of the local history.
Many thanks for the hide WHITEWEBBS
Stanley is an awesome structure with a great story.
And there were more stories on this side of the road.
Thank you Whitewebbs for bringing us here.
Thanks for this history cache Whitewebbs and for the chance to visit old memories.
