Description

Old Canberra House Grassy Woodland

This is a little visited spot with great views of the lake and interesting sculptures to find in and around the grounds.

You can access this cache from Old Canberra House, though parking in the area can be limited on weekdays during university semester times.
Or you can come make your way along the bike path on the way to/from the National Museum.
There is a lot of old Canberra history here and some of the earliest houses in Canberra can be viewed along Lennox Crossing and Liversidge Street.

In the early 1920s families struggled to raise families here and built the first structures of the new capital city.
The area now preserves protected native species of local fauna. The signs in the area tell the story of the rich diversity that can be found here.
Lots of native animals too.... but no chickens here anymore and the families are long gone

Please replace camo carefully to protect the hide from being muggled

A short walk after work to a GC and this GCA cache, nice area and a quick find of the large container, which currently is not even trying to hide much but just lies there. I think it will be quite save though unless someone thinKs it needs clean up. Thanks for the cache here Kittykatch!

I headed out after work to get a gfew caches to complete a number of caches by day challenge. There was still plenty of smoke about, but I made it up to this cache without any problems. A nice large container, in good condition.

I was visiting the 'Canberra's Zero Waste Festival' at the Museum and after a cup of coffee I had decided to find three outstanding caches nearby. While here I also noticed this one on the Garmin, so added this one to list. A quick find at GZ. The cache and log are good. TFTC Kittykatch.

I started by finding a few caches around the MEGA ground. Next, I headed out with AngusnmumyAdventures and LilDonnasAdventure to enjoy the fun that the ‘Clear Waters’ mega event has to offer. We also collected some caches around the Canberra to try and fill in our ‘Cacheopoly’ board. Lots of fun and creative hides were found that were on the list to find and also some bonus finds. Big Grin Some of which were GCA finds for me. After finding the answers to claim a find on ‘The Federation Rocks!’ we headed off in our separate ways. Most were quick finds and were great to see that they were all maintained and in good shape. TB visit on all caches and most were signed as AMA, LDA & JM to save time and space. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today and for allowing them to bring enjoyment to me and the caching community. Big Grin TFTC’s Big Grin

Today turned out to be a glorious day caching with fitzy_1965, Darzee Di & ACTchil after a foggy start. Did a bit of GCA & GC caching along the way.

Easy find here but had to stand strategically so nearby muggles couldn't see what we were doing.

GCA 2,044. Found on a fun day caching around Canberra with minniek, Darzee Di and ACTChil.

A quick drive in from Goulburn and a drive-by pick-up of our days caching companions soon had us on the hunt for both GC and GCA caches. This was the next find of the day. Parked at the ANU and wandered down to GZ for a quick find. This is such a lovely area to wander around.

TFTC Kittykatch !!

#GA2972 - 13:50; After a big bonus bash through the Blue Mountains with Sol de lune over the last couple of days, today I headed out solo to collect a few more caches closer to home. After a semi successful country cache run, I was now back in the 'burbs. Parked nearby and had to make a quick dash to and from this cache as I didn't have a credit card with me to pay for the parking! Made it out and back while managing to get my name onto the log and avoid a ticket. What excitement! TFTC Kittykatch Very HappyClan Cerberus

Headed in to grab this one on the way home from work....at about 11.15pm. Touch on the phone worked a treat and I was soon at GZ and had the cache in hand. Quickly signed the log, replaced the cache and headed back to the car.

Thanks KK...a bit of fun...and one more 50 day completed. Very HappyVery Happy
