Description

The last stand has begun

Ned Kelly was born in June 1855 at Beveridge, Northern Victoria. Ned Kelly came to public attention as a bushranger in the late 1870s.

He was hanged  November 11th, 1880.

Ned Kelly is perhaps one of Australia’s better known folk heroes, known probably for the plough mould board armour donned by him and his gang in what became known as the Siege at Glenrowan (or The Last Stand), the event that led to Ned Kelly’s capture and subsequent hanging.

Ballarat Geo-Tour Trip

Day #4 of 4 (18/9)
It time to head home. It has been a great few days away in Ballarat it is very hard to leave. This is due to all the caches, I didn’t have time to find. Anyway, I packed up the ute and left about 8am to head home. My main focus for today is to find the occasional cache I was passing by and to stop off in Glenrowan to see ‘Ned Kelly’. After my drive/walk around Glenrowan, it was time to head home. It was a great day for the drive home. TB visit. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today and for allowing them to bring the Geocaching community enjoyment. Big Grin TFTC’s Big Grin

I was here for the AL point but I couldn't say no to another two finds. They were this one and GA12257. Required information obtained and used to answer questions. Thanks for bringing me here. Big Grin

We've been at the Rutherglen mega, and headed this afternoon to Bendigo, we didn't have alot of time, so prioritised trigs and virtuals, and maybe any *really* cool DTs for the trip. I've always been interested/enthralled by the history of the Kelly Gang, so even though we were short of time, made a quick visit to Glenrowan - we'll return!

I'd missed this 2-for-1 location last night when I was here for I visited Glenrowan have you? (GA12257) Embarassed but given that I had to pick up some supplies and post-walk BBQ info, I dropped in again this morning for the find at 09:40. Very HappyDancing

Thanks whitewebbs.

Back in the area again as I head to Corowa / Wodonga to catch up with family. Had a couple of Adventure Labs on my radar today but then detoured via some ‘roads less travelled’, letting my GPS be my guide.
Thanks for the cache and for bringing me here. I have seen many wonderful sights and taken many photos around this fantastic area. Does it get any better than travelling this great land of ours?? Coffee, caches, waymarks and photographs.
Always a lovely area to look around and some historic and interesting Points of Interest about.

After staying at the Wangaratta Mega we came to Glen Rowan. We've visited this spot before but this time we managed to find most of the GCA caches. Except for one we overlooked... dammit! TFTC whitewebbs.

Wangaratta Mega trip Day 2. It has taken quite some time to get this trip going so it is a great feeling to be on the road for a great weekend away with great caching with friends and new friends. Today was a day in two parts. I spent the morning with Nibbletricecakes, Gliss! & Smitten Granny doing as many of the city LAB caches as possible. So much variety there. We did a few of the caches we came across along the way. The after noon we were joined by Fitzy_1965 & MinnieK and headed down to Glenrowan to do the Ned Kelly caches. We also did the labs in Glenrowan before heading back to Wangaratta for a few high D/T caches. This was a great way to spend the day before the Mega !

Thanks for the cache Whitewebs

Pa and I have had a wonderful couple of weeks away starting with the Tumut Invasion which was lots of fun with fellow cachers from ACT and the Goulburn region. We continued on through Omeo, Licola and the Howitt High Plains before dropping down to Mansfield and Bonnie Doon. Today we stopped in Jugiong having made quite a long day of it by collecting as many GCA caches as possible to take advantage of the double points. This was one of those caches and we thank all COs for placing these caches which add interest and fun to our trip.

Today's adventure saw me taking a bus load of primary school children back home to Wang then returning to Echuca in a car. Perfect. It gives me a few minutes to find a few caches on the return trip.
After taking some photos in town to satisfy a few Virtuals I stopped at this spot to take another photo and answer some questions.

My thanks to WhiteWebbs for this cache and its (very) close neighbour.

I have visited Glenrowan many times and have also visited other locations that feature in Ned Kelly's life. Since the Hume Freeway now bypasses the town my visits are less frequent but I still like to make the effort to drive into the town, especially when my tummy needs filling.
Thank you whitewebbs for this cache and highlighting a chapter in Australia's history.

18-May-18
Another spot that we have visited a number of times over the years. We located the information needed to answer the history questions. There are few memorials to the victims of the Kelly Gang - an interesting aspect to the way Australians like to remember past events.

Thanks for this history cache Whitewebbs.

We've visited this location several times and had the information required on hand. Impressive statue, but was he a hero or a villain? Opinion is very divided still. TFTC and another whitewebbs history cache
