Description

Log anything that is bigger or smaller than its normal size. I don't want any of those little umbrellas on cakes and stuff. Example: A big chair at Broken Hill, a small ayers rock near Karuah and if you can log  a big orange, or the big mango etc.

To log a find you need to:

1. take a picture of the ting that is big or small.

2. post co-ords of the thing.

3. tell where it is.

So ClimbingSon is big and the Emu small. Very clever.

Four years ago today I was in Ukraine. I’ve just finished looking through my many photos. I then loaded the GCA front page and scrolled down and saw this cache. Here is a photo of a large ant found in Kyiv, taken four years ago today. The sign says GOOD LUCK. Wow. I have lots of stories but I’ll just leave the image. I have great memories of my time in Ukraine and the surrounding nations. Thanks for the cache.

Here is a picture of a big potato at Robertson. This is a lovely part of Australia with the cool mornings and mist. The drive up from the coast through the National Parks is very interesting, but maybe don't try it as the sun was coming up like we did. Some of those sharp corners around the cliffs are a bit sketchy with the sun shining right in your eyes.

Oh, and the kids are convinced this is a big potato, they think it looks more like a big smelly ...

The big hairy nosed wombat at Thallon, and the smaller Cybergran.
I loved this tiny town with its big wombat and beautifully painted silos.
Well worth stopping to see them
Thanks for the locationless Stringy, I wasn’t aware of its presence until we drove past it.
It’s eyes are particularly well done, and I loved that the back of it was a climbing wall for children to be able to scale him to have their photo taken astride him.

At the big Pineapple. I was lucky that my daughter drove me to see it, as there was a GC Cache nearby.
The photo of me in front of it shows how big it really is. I love photos that make me look small!
Apparently you can climb up inside it, but that section was being restored when we were there.
Thanks for the Locationless Stringy. I’m hoping one day to visit all the Big items Australia has to offer.

I was in the St George area caching and came down to Thallon and Nindigully for three caches. From Here I will back track to St George then to Cunnamulla and thargominday before heading towards Barcaldine. Thallon is a small community and they have town pride. tourism is a major source of income in the tourist season April to October.
Saw this as I drove slowly past and had to stop.
In Thallon's beautiful town park, where you can find “William the Wombat”, a Giant Sculpture (two metres high and 3.5 metres long) of a critically endangered Northern Hairy Nosed Wombat.

The town has a special connection to the northern hairy-nosed wombat with some of the earliest specimens found in the area. The species is one of the world's most endangered mammals with just 250 remaining - 240 at Epping Forest National Park near Clermont in Queensland and 10 at Richard Underwood Nature Refuge just north of St George, Queensland

As you approach Thallon on the two closest grids there are tin cut outs of wombats on the adjoin fences. TFTL STRINGY. Clan MinotaurI'm a Gnome, duh!Very Happy

I'm going to claim the Big Prawn, even though kaisho53 logged it in 2010. You see when he logged it, the complex it was sitting on had been closed and there was a demolition order on the prawn.

Well since then, the locals lobbied for the prawn to be preserved, and Bunnings came on board. The prawn was moved down the road a bit by two large 110T crawler cranes, remounted, repainted, and now is an attraction in its own right for Bunnings. Its looking much better and I think the way its displayed you can appreciate it more.

Thanks for the locationless.

This is Called the Big Gun Shopping strip. I really really wanted to get the Big redback spider down the road but the landscape place has been sold off to make way for new office park...Grrrr it had been there for years!!!!! It has only been sold this year. So I drove down Logan Rd further and grabbed The Big Gun. This local South East QLD icon is listed in the wiki Australia's Big Things.
The Logan City Council web site describes the "Big Gun" at 2922 Logan Road, Springwood, as a 155mm field gun which had a range of almost 30kms. It indicates that some of these guns were placed in strategic positions such as Moreton Island and the mouth of the Brisbane River.

Bernie Smallwood purchased five of these guns in 1958. Four were cut up for scrap, but one was kept and could be seen in Bernie's wrecking yard at Springwood as you drove to the Gold Coast. Bruno Laspina started “The Big Gun Fruit Mart” in 1972 near Bernie Smallwood's original wrecker’s yard. The 7 ton gun was hoisted onto the roof of the fruit mart. The complex was redeveloped in about 2004 and the gun is now positioned on its own special stand sitting high for all to see.

The 155mm M1917A1 "Long Tom" gun was a semi-mobile gun. It had a maximum range of 18.28 kms and could fire either a 96 pound high explosive round or a 109 pound armour piercing round.

Driving from Nanango to Bundaberg sometimes we drive through Kilkivan and take the Bauple Woolooga Road. This fruit stall is close to the locality known as Munna Creek. I have seen this fruit stall many times over the years and have not taken too much notice on what the name of it was, until this trip. The Big Rosella. A big ride in Taupo

I'm still not sure how, but I just found a bigger bogan than my husband!

Actually I've been past this guy a few times since he arrived. So sad to see the bad cosmetic surgery done on his tatt. So bogan!

Nyngan's Big Bogan comes complete with esky and was placed on the main shopping street this year to direct traffic through there to improve local business... problem is there are none open on Saturday afternoons and Sundays. Coffee and food at these times can be bought at the servo only. Seriously!

Thankfully hubby has a new car buddy in town who makes a good coffee and says we can drop in anytime for a cuppa even if he is not home... which we won't do...and you can't either. Haha

Decided to snap a photo with this big fella today while hubby went to check out a genuine old Ford GT motor for its numbers. Not so wise considering I'm sitting around waiting in 34 degree heat and jeans.

Good times. Thanks for the locationless. Smile

Unnamed Lookout
Carleton Road
Leura, NSW

We were amazed when arriving at this local Blue Mountains lookout without a name (very close to my 'Reverse View Sisters' geocache) to see that someone had tried to copy the 'Three Sisters' (actually, originally, the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades) in the distance.

So I tried to get a shot of both 'small' and 'big' rock formations.

tn_91310798692.jpg

If you live in the Blue Mountains, you'll know that the 'Sisters' at Echo Point is just about the most famous view there. But my geocache lets you observe them from behind, without the company of thousands of tourists . . .

I was caching just up the road so I decided to check on this one and it has not been claimed. Will have to put an end to that.
