Description

Aykayem's artistic, amazing, awesome ... or is it just aweful? ... Hat ...

I made this rather unusual hat as my "creative clothing" entry for a Canberra Quilters exhibition, several years ago ... the other day I was wondering what hat to wear to a Mad Hatters GC event and thought this one might be fun, because it is a rather weird hat shaped like a tree stump with dangling roots and a bird nesting in the top, and would therefore be perfect to wear to a Geocaching gathering because it actually looks like a good spot to hide a cache ... then I figured ... if it looks like a good spot to hide a Geocache - then when not hide one there! ... so ... (once I actually found where in my rather messy house I had actually put said hat) ... that is what I did :)

Cache itself is a small bison, hidden somewhere on the tree stump ... Er ... hat, and it is inside what is probably becoming my trademark camo - a crochet "cocoon" :)

The location of the hat (and therefore the cache) - will probably just stay set at a spot near my house (the coordinates of a GC cache I hid near the end of my street, to mark my territory) ... The Hat is a moveable cache, but it is not to be actually picked up without my permission (and/or picking me up with it :) because the idea was for it to be able to move, but to go places I take it and be discovered/found that way - I guess I will have to remember to bring it with me to events/etc. - lol ... if I am not wearing it, and it isn't on a table nearby, ask me if I have it with me - it might be in my car ... or it might not ... remembering stuff like that/being organised is not one of my strong points ...

Oh - if it is on my head/up on a shelf/somewhere high and you can't reach it - I am happy to squat down or pass it to you so you can - seeing I have rated it as one star for terrain :)

Logs

This moveable is always with the owner and is not at the posted co-ords. Look out for it at a local event.....

just using this cache of mine to test if the App will let me post photos (hasn't been working for a year or so, but I haven't tried for a couple of months)

trying to make the coordinates actually move ... they didn't when I submitted the other log, a couple of minutes ago.

Moved 6.42km
yay, I am able to move this again (I am not sure why it had been locked so I couldn't move it to wherever I was taking it, or back home afterwards - but thanks to whoever fixed it Smile
... considering it was only actually at the location it has been "stuck" at for a few years, and it has been either at home or in my car for about 99.999999999% of the time since then, I have moved it back to what I use as my home coordinates (actually the closest cache to my home - the one I hid nearby when I moved here Smile

Cache is a personal moveable and is always with the owner. Track them down to log a find....

I’m on my way to Canberra for a special event over the weekend. What better way to fill in my time then with Geocaching. I started with collecting the long overdue finds along the Barton HWY. Then I headed into Canberra for lunch and to host my event (GA14468) which had an unexpected turnout of 5 people. Big Grin Thanks for coming and allowing me to not be alone at the park. Afterwards I headed out to find some caches which I have wanted to make for quite some time. These included some past DNF’s as well as some regular/large sized caches plus ‘The Maniac’. (I’ve decided on doing one a day) I can tell you I’m not as fit as I once was I made it with a minute or two to spare. Unlike some of the others that had done the ride, I didn’t experience trouble with the cartridge and it came up with the right coordinates first time. Next it was time to settle into my motel plus have a shower. After dinner, it was time for some night caching! I found 5 Labs plus a couple of other finds which included the AL Bonus. I had an eventful day. Big Grin I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found, for allowing them to bring joy to me and to the rest of the caching community. Big Grin TFTE and TFTC’s Big Grin

What an amazing creation! A perfect place to hide a geocache.
I was extremely lucky to find it whilst it was actually being worn by its creative creator,
Thanks for sharing this most unusual moveable, but I reckon you should change the cache type to be a Geocacher Geocache

#GA3018 - 12:25; Spotted the CO queuing for a drink at the Mad Hatter event and my curiousity turned into an unexpected *FTF*. I don't think this cache will find itself out in the wild and would be better classes as a cacher cache, but happy to make the find and especially the blank log sheet! Ok ... seems I have to do a moved log (and/or actually enter different coordinates) to get it off that other spot on the map ...
Now will be appearing on the map somewhere else it isn't ... it is not far away though - the hat is inside my house (well, it will be most of the time, but if there is an event on it may be in my car that day, and/or on my head or a table at the event), the spot on the map is actually the coordinates for my nearby GC cache (so if you came here looking for the hat, without realising it is not available to collect, you can console yourself by finding my really exciting (not) rock under a tree Smile
Yes, I know - I talk a lot, even when I am writing/typing stuff - lol

07-Jul-18
Of course my hat came home with me (and hopefully this log, if I did it right, will remove it from that spot on the map (if not, I will find another way Smile
... I will try and remember to bring it to the next GA and/or GC event for more people to find Smile

Ok ... My first GCA cache ...
"The cache is not at the listed coordinates" but it is close - It is actually here at home with me but I am "Hiding" it at the coordinates of my nearest GC hide, which is less than 100m away ... so if anyone is still awake and so desperate to get a FTF that they want to come looking now//first thing in the morning - you will have to find/figure out where I live and knock on my door - lol ... otherwise ... I will be at the GC event (that inspired me to hide a cache in a hat) tomorrow ...
