Description
Urana is a small town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. The town is in the Federation Council local government area and is located between Lockhart and Jerilderie, about 561 kilometres southwest of the state capital, Sydney. To the west lies Lake Urana and the Lake Urana Nature Reserve.
While driving between said towns of Urana and Lockhart there is not a lot to see. It's a long flat road...and in summer is it's hot. To help break up the drive I've placed this GCA cache to allow cachers the chance to get out of the car and enjoy a stretch.
The cache is about 30 metres off the road in the end of the log. During the warmer months watch out for snakes, but apart from that, simply take the chance to get out of your car for a break.

Mrs y'stassie made her way across the longish grass to the hide. She started to sport through the thick pile of dry leaf litter, sticks and bark covering thearea. It has been over two years since the cache was last found and the covering material was matted together and she failed to unearth the container after 5 or more minutes. She widened her search area but still found nothing. It wasn't until Mr y'stassie joined her that progress was made. He lifted a largish piece of wood and noticed something odd in one corner of the hole left by the wood. It turned out to be a little rectangular box containing a bagged logbook and a tiny pen. Container and contents were in very good condition considering they hadn't seen daylight for over 2 years.
Thanks for this cach Sol De Lune. Its always good to find an unloved cache.
Almost needed gumboots here to get through the lake between the road and the cache. After finding a place I could jump over the water, I got to GZ and soon found the cache.

Goulburn to Forbes, Nyngen, Cobar, Broken Hill, Wentworth and Balranald. We reached the last day of our trip.
Leaving Finley after a rainy night we first headed south to the River near Tocomwal, then homewards via Jerilderie
and Wagga Wagga. A great trip in a wonderful state.
Thanks
Albida
Quick find here today.
Day 10 - Finley to Goulburn (Home). A nice interesting drive. Stopped in Urana for a few caches including this Trad.
Thanks Sol de Lune !!
Thanks for the cache Sol de lune.
Thanks for the cache Sol de lune.
With a day off and an event in ‘The Rock’ plus pre-geocaching lead to a great day out. I also got a FTF on the cache ‘Break the Drive – Urana’ (GA12529). I started out with collecting the finds around Urana which included the most disgusting cache I have ever found (GC3BDFX). [xx(][xx(] I completely disapprove of that cache and hope to never see a hide like that ever again. [xx(][xx(] I visited a few different spots around and I enjoyed the ‘Leap year 2020 at The Rock’ event hosted by B&MG. A great BBQ and many geo-conversations were had by all. There were also many GCA moveable caches signed while we were there. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring joy to me and the rest of the caching community. TFTE and TFTC’s
