Description

Buffers in Kilmore Station Complex

Kilmore Station was the end (or beginning) of the LKR. These buffers were at the end of a siding which came down from the passenger platform to the north. This Wallan to Heathcote and Bendigo was a profitable line for a long time, but was finally closed in 1968.

I was up here to farewell a mate's Mum just up the street Crying or Very sad and with this only about 30 metres away with 20 minutes to spare, I simply had to drop by for a look. Wink Once I found my way in, it was a nice quick find at 10:10. I often wonder how many people know that this sort of infrastructure from days of yore exist but thanks to this cache, now one more person does. Dancing

TNLNSL. Thanks Bob Tomkins.

After reading a few logs we used the coordinates provided by LuckyL10n and had no trouble locating the cache container. The structure was a surprise - love these extra sized posts. Although the blackberries are dormant one thick cane managed to grab Mrs Y'stassie by the ankle - fortunately no damage was done. Cache was in good condition.

Thanks for this cache and for showing us this little piece of local history.

On my way up to the river again, so a short detour and a reasonably fast find. Thankfully, the torrential rain of earlier today had stopped.

Today was a chance to make a flying visit to Melbourne to buy some hard-to-get stock for my business. The trip was a little longer than normal because there are a few caches worth the detour.
Another relatively quick find using the coordinates provided by Ian and Sandra. Not too happy with the blackberrries giving me a "tickle", though.

I spent some time wandering about the grassland collecting seeds in my socks, until I read the previous logs and found the coordinates are out. Use LuckyL10n's coordinates of S37° 17.996' E144° 56.978', and you are looking for a small. Magical spot at GZ. TFTC lkr.

Woohoo!!! FTF on an excellent footy trip to Melbourne with Sol de lune and LuckyL10n. Following the hint and persisting through the incoming rain, we searched for possible spots and soon enough, the cache was found. Better coordinates have been posted in LuckyL10n's log. TNLNSL. TFTC LKR!

Heading to Melbourne for a weekend of AFL games with LuckyL10n and Toy Hunters gave us the opportunity to head of the main highway and try these new caches.

With the only other log a DNF we decided to try this one anyway and thought we spied a possible hiding spot. Young Toy Hunters was sent in to investigate and it wasn't long before he had the cache in hand. Woo Hoo, a FTF for us.

Thanks for another one LKR. Future searchers should check LuckyL10n's log for a good set of co-ords.

#GA3045 - 14:35; Headed south for a weekend of football with Sol de lune and toy hunters and now in Kilmore on the hunt for caches in the Historical Society series (Probably more aptly named the Lancefield to Kilmore Railway series). We were aware of an earlier DNF, but decided to try anyway. As I headed to the posted coords, I spotted a potential hide and sent toy hunters to check it out. The magic words were soon heard and we had our first *FTF* for the day! A better set of coords is S37 17.996 E144 56.978. TFTC Bob Tomkins/lkr Very HappyClan Cerberus
