Description

Well this cache is near the airport so I decided that would be the theme for this cache. It's a bit of a tree climb but not too difficult, my monkey managed it easily.

Hidden in the dunes behind Seven Mile Beach, you can walk along the beach or one of the many crisscrossing tracks behind the dunes to GZ

Please bring your own pen, or stamp your thumbprint in blood to sign the log sheet.

Found this one and we decided to try to climb the tree but then realised I’d lost my pen somewhere between here and the previous cache Doh
After a couple of earlier DNF and then losing the pen we decided to call it a day and just enjoyed the opportunity to walk along Seven Mile Beach.
We will be back at a later date with possibly a monkey!
Thanks for placing a cache at Seven Mile Beach to bring people here to enjoy the beautiful location gooseandegg!
Cheers

Caching in the area we found your cache along the way.

No log was attached so left one in a zip lock bag under the cache.

Thanks gooseandegg.

"Hello gooseandegg thank you for the cache.

It didn't take too long before I spotted the cache.
JEP was soon up the tree to sing the log for me.

EeePees and I had been planning on finding the cache along 5 Mile Beach and Seven Mile Beach for some time now, today we finally got around to do it.
After an early morning start at the carpark at the end of 5 Mile Beach Road we walked along the beach with junior EP in tow and collected caches as we went.
We then ventured inland and found more caches before coming back out near the end of 5 Mile Beach.
From there it was a up and down walk across the point to Seven Mile Beach working our way back to the car ducking in and out of the bush as needed to find caches.
I must admit I did like the break as we sat on the dunes and had lunch.
After lunch it was mostly a case of trudging our way along the soft sand on the inland track finding more caches.

Thank you EeePees and JEP for the great day and for finding the caches I didn't see, it was a great day.

Got to GZ, spotted the cache (very cute) but no hope of retrieving it - will have to return with the cheetah!

While Mrs Y'stassie headed to the end of the beach to find the Lil Rafa caches Mr Y'stassie headed back to the car moving it closer to this cache and carrying our ladder in. After several circuits of GZ and failing to spot the hide he rang Mrs Y'stassie who had spotted it some time ago when she was alone in this area. She gave him all sorts of information all of which proved to be either very unhelpful or incorrect - her estimation of heights has never been good.

After some frustrating minutes he discovered the hide much higher than Mrs Y'stassie had indicated and up the tree he had leaned the ladder against. He soon had the cache in hand and the log signed.

Thanks for this cache gooseandegg. We enjoyed the creative cache container and the challenge associated with retrieving the container (anyway one of us did). And yes the container, contents and cache guardian are all in good condition.

DD stayed at gz and gave helpful advice as T made the actual find and log. Inappropriate footwear was her excuse. TFTC

Well out this was cleaning up 7 mile and 5 mile and got to this one just as we were getting started.
I was here when this was placed and was back today to find it, odd thing was i opened the cache and it was empty, with the log being found on the ground near GZ?
With my name added to the log i put it back before I moved on.

I thanked the CO for the cache since he was with me lol.

Journey or Destination

Game Period: 01-Dec-2018 00:00:00 to 31-Jan-2019 23:59:59 AEST

It is sometimes said [citation needed] that the game of geocaching is not about the destination it is about the journey. This game is about the choices you make in the experience of the journey or the destination.

On your entry to the game you will be asked to create a playing field with a number of ground tiles. Your playing field is a grid 20 x 20 ground tiles making a total number of 400 possible steps you can take on your journey or destination. You choose whether you want to find and follow the path or whether you wanted to meander around. A playing field is unique to each player so there is no benefit in teaming up to beat the system through brute force.

For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath. There are a number of different ground tiles that will be revealed when you click on your playing field. It should be noted that there are no punishments for clicking a tile but there will not always be the reward you were hoping for as you reveal each tile.

Dirt. The ground beneath the ground tile is just plain old brown dirt.

Dirt with some points. The ground beneath the tile is brown dirt but it has some points associated with it.

Concrete. The ground beneath is part of the pathway that will lead you on your way to your destination but has no point value.

Start. A concrete ground tile that has a blue map marker.

Destination. A ground tile that has a green map marker.

Meandering around and avoiding the path will accumulate points that will be used to place on you the ladder of wanderers. The more you stay off the path the higher the number of points you will accumulate and it will be your journey that will be the determining factor in whether you place into a prize winning position. You are free to select any ground tile to click on; they do not need to be next to each other.

Trying to find the path may mean you strike out on the dirt until you eventually come across the path and as a geocacher who can't say that this isn't a tried and true method. Once you find the path however will you try and follow the path as it changes direction around your playing field? Do you go North, South, East or West to try and find the next concrete tile along the path? If you head one way are you heading towards the start or towards the destination? When you do happen upon the destination tile then you will automatically be in a winning position.

At any point you are free to change from the journey to the destination and vice versa but you won't be able to regenerate your playing field. You are also free to keep playing as long as you have qualifying geocaches, accumulating more and more dirt tile points and placing you higher and higher on the ladder.

Qualifying geocaches fall into two categories. Finds and Hides.

A qualifying find is a geocache that meets the following criteria:

The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia

The geocache has a hidden date prior to the game commencing

The geocache was logged by you on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period

The geocache was physically found by you during the game period

The geocache is not owned by you unless it is a moveable geocache

The geocache has not previously been found by you during the game period

The geocache is one of the following types:

Burke and Wills

Moveable (you will qualify only once for a find on a moveable geocache)

Traditional

TrigPoint

Augmented Reality

Beacon

Gadget

Multi-cache

Night Cache

Podcache

Reverse

Unknown or Mystery

A qualifying hide is a geocache that meets the following criteria:

The geocache is listed at Geocaching Australia

The geocache has a hidden date after the game has commenced

The geocache was published on the Geocaching Australia website during the game period

The geocache has a container size of regular or larger (Note: A regular geocache has a volume of 1 litre or more)

The geocache is one of the following types:

Moveable

Traditional

Augmented Reality

Beacon

Gadget

Multi-cache

Night Cache

Podcache

Reverse

Unknown or Mystery

The game tracking mechanism relies upon your honesty when logging geocaches as found or hidden.

The games administrators will undertake verification of a statistically significant number of logs.

Players who continually log inaccurate information will be disqualified from the game. The game administrators decision is final.

The game administrators will subtract qualifying hide or find geocaches from your tally if they are found to be not genuine.

The game administrators reserve the right to provide clarifications to the rules at any point during the game.

Don't forget to claim your limited time game trophies, if your qualify, while the game is in progress. Once the game completes the ability to claim your trophies is lost for ever.

Long Walk to this cache, and well to be honest I didnt know if the branches would support me. Happy to report only one cracked and it was the bottom one on the way back down. TFTC

Thanks for the cache GooseandEgg. After abandoning the couch for the day, I grabbed the GeoGSP and headed out to have a look for the newly published caches that were just too close to home to ignore. I approached GZ wondering just how much of a tree climb was involved. As I looked up, I received a message from Mr EeePees who was in the area and wanted to know if I was keen to go cache-hunting.....I let Mr EeePees know I was just at my first stop for the day but would be happy to meet up with him.....and I was thankful that I would have some assistance in retrieving this cache. Just as I was about to head off to meet EeePees, Whitewebbs arrived. Mr Whitewebbs was kind enough to do the honours in retrieving the cache, and the log was signed and returned to it's very nifty cache container. Cheers.

Hi gooseandegg, thanks for hiding new caches out this way with SSR.
Lil Rafa and whitewebbs had already found this one before I caught them up, aren't they nice, they actually waited for me!
I was going to leave this one for the return journey, but we collectively decided that there was a chance that the GC multi might see a differnt route back, so we backtracked so I could ascend to great heights to find a cable thai. A nice cache, thanks.
After the morning rain, the day was changing nicely, and we 4 along with Rafa the geoGSP, enjoyed a caching stroll along this great beach, and its shorter counterpart nearby.
We'd each made separate starts, but ended up together for a great days caching.
Me, I needed to be in the area to fill in time between a pre-noon airport drop-off and a 5pm pickup from Orana, Roches Beach and these new caches, plus some other at 5 mile beach keeped me suitably occupied.
Thanks for the adventure, enjoyed in great company.
Cheers, EPs

When we awoke the email was flooded with new cache alerts but the weather was pretty ordinary, cold and raining. We uploaded the caches to the GPSr in case it looked like it was clearing and about mid morning we headed off. When we arrived in the car park we noticed a familiar car so thought the first to finds would be gone. We spotted Lil Rafa bounding in and out of the sand dunes ahead of us and when we went bush we found his owner surveying a pine tree. Mr W did the honours and the log was signed. An apt cache. Joint FTF with Lil Rafa.
