Description

Small red stegosaurus seeks new travel experiences on behalf of adventure addicted bear.

Stegosaurus from Greek stegos which means roof and sauros which means lizard.
Teddy Bear from the Old English Edwardii  and the English Bear which means furry friend.  In particular relating to one particular furry friend; the one and only Samboo Bear - adventurer, coffee lover, chocolate connoisseur.

So what is in common between the two?

Well, nothing except a certain bear would like to particpate in the Spring Caching Carnival and a certain stegosaurus would like to escape from his life as just another plaything in a toybox for when "parents come for meetings". Combine the two, and you have a Steggy ready to volunteer as a moveable cache for a Teddy.

Don't worry, there are plenty of other toys for bored toddlers.

So what do you do?
  • Find the Stegosaurus and make sure you make a found log so people know he's no longer there.
  • Move him somewhere else. It could be a little bit or a long way, just make sure you include a moved log and a good hint so people will know where to look.

Steggy is pretty bright in colour and so would appreciate a cover of naturally occuring camo when you rehide him.

So we arrived at Coffs Harbour - Diggers Beach, to be exact. After a tiring trip, we decided to stretch our legs and walk along the beach. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach, it looked a bit spooky even. Halloween was only a few days ago, I assured the gaggle of dinosaurs that I had with me. But then... from nowhere, and vicious fish monster scared Steggy and his new friend Will away. I caught up with them eventually, and assured them that the fish monster was no longer mobile, and infact had lost both eyes. But they opted to stay at Diggers Beach - the relaxing sound of the crashing waves and beautiful sunshine was hard for any dinosaur to resist!

I was on my way south today, and decided to quickly check up on Steggy - he's been sitting at Ferry Park for a while now, and I was starting to worry. He was still in his same spot, waiting for a lift. I had 4 other dinosaurs with me - and still room for a 5th, so without much convincing Steggy climbed aboard, ready to head south.

Well this week as turned out busier than expected. Our weekend adventures were cut short, and we were unable to travel North as previously expected. Today though, I was called to go to Maclean for work, and both Steggy and George were ready to come along for the journey. They hid in the back of the work truck in my esky - both promised not to touch my lunch. If they were good little dinos, I promised them a surprise once out jobs were done.

The work was quickly done, so we called into the supermarket to buy a drink, and what did we see but these massive blocks of chocolate - and only $3.50 - so we just had to buy one. Steggy seemed to love the stuff as much as his friend Samboo. His eyes lit up and he was in heaven.

We called in by the river to open the block and have a few pieces before returning to Lismore. Steggy and George loved the spot so much that they asked if they could stay for a bit longer. Secretly though, I'm pretty sure they just ate too much chocolate to climb back into the truck!

So Steggy waits at a lovely little spot to stop and nibble some sweets at - Ferry Park - right by the Pacific Highway. Hopefully someone calls into visit him soon!

18-Sep-18
After a good couple of weeks nibbling on the paperbark tree, I decided I should go and see if Steggy still lingered near the radio station in Lismore, and sure enough, there he was. Grazing in the same spot I left him. It looks like I'm the only Dinosaur Wrangler in Lismore at the moment, so he may appreciate a trip out of town. Just to make sure he isn't lonely, I decided to grab Mega and BYOD from locations not to far from his own hiding spot.

So all four of us will need to go on a weekend adventure and see where destiny leads us. It'll probably be some where with Ice Cream. And Chocolate.

Steggy was a little but fussy, and decided he'd like to munch on some paperbark leaves, so I took him home and found a tree near the FM radio station in Lismore. He opted to stay here tonight, but it would be great if another cacher could pick him up and find some more food for him, the paperbark tree isn't that big, and he'll run out of food soon.

01-Sep-18
We'd previously collected Sero Tardus, the only other Gold Coast dinosaur, and decided that why not have a whole Jurassic car full on the way home, and collect Steggy as well. It's been a while since I've visited Tallebudgera, so I was looking forward to seeing the area again.

A quick walk thorugh the park, and Steggy was found, grazing on a fig tree.

"Eat up", I said to the little dino "You'll need to grow big and strong - you've got some travelling to do."

He decided to hitch a ride with us - insisting we find him some Northern Rivers plants to munch on.

Steggy is now nestled in his hiding spot waiting for the start of his adventures.
