Hidden in the spirit of the Spring Carnival Game 2018
Game Period: 01-Sep-2018 to 30-Sep-2018
Spring Caching Carnival is a game where geocaching Dinosaur Racers will race around the world accumulating finds, moves and distance in order for their owner to be crowned King or Queen of the Spring Caching Carnival.
The game requires you to hide a DINOSAUR on Geocaching Australia on the 1st of September 2018; then you can sit back and watch as your Dinosaur Racer travels Australia and the world. You can also help other Dinosaur Racers by finding and moving them along at Geocaching Australia.
Dimetrodon
Dimetrodon meaning "two measures of teeth," lived around 295–272 million years ago. The most prominent feature of Dimetrodon is the large neural spine sail on its back formed by elongated spines extending from the vertebrae. It walked on four legs and had a tall, curved skull with large teeth of different sizes set along the jaws. Most fossils have been found in the southwestern United States. More recently, fossils have been found in Germany.
Reptile-like in appearance and physiology, Dimetrodon is nevertheless more closely related to mammals than to modern reptiles, though it is not a direct ancestor of mammals.
Dimetrodon was probably a predator feeding on fish and tetrapods, including reptiles and amphibians. The sail of Dimetrodon may have been used to stabilize its spine or to heat and cool its body as a form of thermoregulation. Some recent studies argue that the sail would have been ineffective at removing heat from the body, and was most likely used in courtship display.
Pick him up and take him exploring and when you find a nice place for him to hide away from muggles, let it loose.

We found a hole in the tree, around chest height, but no dinosaur within. There was a stick poking out of the hole, looking as if it had been placed there deliberately.
I had an afternoon grabbing a few caches, then I decided to check to see if GCA had anything new to offer - wait what! a trail of new GCA moveables was in town thanks to the lovely 2'ystassies, I love GCA caches, but alas people usually come to Adelaide and take the movables back with them interstate without dropping some new ones for us to find - not today, SA has been restocked and I will get these out and scattered as soon as possible.

Dimetrodon is part of a group of dinosaurs that has landed in this part of South Australia. Though listed as small this cache is a micro sized dinosaur so look closely
Found waiting patiently by the garage door with a mottled collection of moveables all hoping for an adventure. Will be off and out soon.
We've had a collection of moveable caches for way too long, apologies to the cache owners, so have passed them on to another team to take with them on an expedition, happy travels
Some last minute finds in the summer game to give us the chance to hopefully grab some points. These caches arrived unexpectedly on the last day for the triple points, we'll move them on again asap. TFTC

It is sometimes said [citation needed] that the game of geocaching is not about the destination it is about the journey. This game is about the choices you make in the experience of the journey or the destination.
On your entry to the game you will be asked to create a playing field with a number of ground tiles. Your playing field is a grid 20 x 20 ground tiles making a total number of 400 possible steps you can take on your journey or destination. You choose whether you want to find and follow the path or whether you wanted to meander around. A playing field is unique to each player so there is no benefit in teaming up to beat the system through brute force.
For each qualifying geocache that you hide or find during the game period you will be offered the opportunity to click on a ground tile and reveal what lies beneath. There are a number of different ground tiles that will be revealed when you click on your playing field. It should be noted that there are no punishments for clicking a tile but there will not always be the reward you were hoping for as you reveal each tile.
Dirt. The ground beneath the ground tile is just plain old brown dirt.
Dirt with some points. The ground beneath the tile is brown dirt but it has some points associated with it.
Concrete. The ground beneath is part of the pathway that will lead you on your way to your destination but has no point value.
Start. A concrete ground tile that has a blue map marker.
Destination. A ground tile that has a green map marker.
Meandering around and avoiding the path will accumulate points that will be used to place on you the ladder of wanderers. The more you stay off the path the higher the number of points you will accumulate and it will be your journey that will be the determining factor in whether you place into a prize winning position. You are free to select any ground tile to click on; they do not need to be next to each other.
Trying to find the path may mean you strike out on the dirt until you eventually come across the path and as a geocacher who can't say that this isn't a tried and true method. Once you find the path however will you try and follow the path as it changes direction around your playing field? Do you go North, South, East or West to try and find the next concrete tile along the path? If you head one way are you heading towards the start or towards the destination? When you do happen upon the destination tile then you will automatically be in a winning position.
At any point you are free to change from the journey to the destination and vice versa but you won't be able to regenerate your playing field. You are also free to keep playing as long as you have qualifying geocaches, accumulating more and more dirt tile points and placing you higher and higher on the ladder.
Qualifying geocaches fall into two categories. Finds and Hides.

After a bit of caching on the north west coast over the last few days we found ourselves with a car load of dinosaurs so decided to make an expedition to the Trevallyn Reserve to find them all new homes. There's now a tribe of them lurking about waiting for their next find
