Description

Sero Tardus: the late and tardy dinosaur

When a long lost geo friend announces that he's back in the game AND he has hidden a dinosaur close enough for you to find, you might like feel like you want to return the favour with a dinosaur for the local dinosaur for the friend to discover.

Sero Tardus: both Latin words meaning late or last minute. Which pretty much sums up this dinosaur and the race to get it into position for the Spring Caching Carnival.

If you are reading this, its likely you know what do to with it. If you need a revision of the rules its basically ...

  • Find it and post a FOUND log. This will indicate its no longer hiding in this spot.
  • Locate somewhere else to hide it. 50m away or 50,000m away, your choice, its better if its close enough for other GCA cachers to find easily.
  • Record the new co-ordinates and note a decent clue on how to find it, this is no time to be cryptic - lets make finding easy and keep the dinos moving.
  • Create a MOVED log, so potential finders will know its back in play and ready to be found.

There are some other rules about whether you can move one dinosaur two times in succession and other stuff. Go to the Spring Caching Carnival page for the full list of rules if you wish. You can also view the race ladder and some stats for each dinosaur. Being late, will Sero Tardus be first for anything?

I forgot to take a photo of Sero Tardus before I hid him but to modern day humans he appears as a 10cm long blue Stegosaurus.

This little dinosaur was going to come with me and a few dino friends to check out the view from the Lansdowne lookout and trigs, but the road was closed. The dinosaurs seemed to like the forest so they stayed behind in a burnt out stump by the side of the road near an intersection.

Happy travels little one.

Tardy Sero has been lazing around
in a small patch of rainforest laying on the ground
But today he was found and will hitch a ride
to another place where he can hide.

Sero Tardus has moved to a new location in a tranquil arboretum. His new accommodation will keep him well protected from passersby. He is quite happy to stay awhile but will welcome the opportunity to travel again. Thanks for your company.

I visited Schusters Park on the Gold Coast on the last day of Blitz 2021. I was amazed that the park was filled with movables. I attempted to find Sero Tardus after finding Zone of the Dragon, Flynn Frog and Brachiosaurus. I read the hint and navigated to a tree with a stunning vine. Mother Nature never fails to impress. I found Sero Tardus resplendent in a delightful shade of blue looking a bit sleepy after a long rest but happy to pose for a photo. I’m a bit like Sero Tardus not on time most of the time. The little fellow was excited to meet up with his friends again and is looking forward to moving to a new location. Thanks Petan and Samboo Bear for the movable.

18-Apr-21
Called in to Samboo Park today to see how my froggy, dinosaur and other movable friends were going.

Sero Tardus said he was perfectly fine. He said that the recent heavy rains increased the size of the swamp temporarily but he is perfectly safe and is patiently waiting for a lift.

While Sero Tardus would have been welcome to stay home permanently, he said he prefered to be out on the road so we've moved him to Samboo Park. The council has a different name for it but that's their business I know it as Samboo Park as I have a lot of caches here.

Sero is hiding about head height in a tree not far from my AR cache The Teddy and Friends Picnic.

Good luck Sero.

Wow Sero Tardus, what a journey you have had. You have travelled far more than a lot of people this year.

Even though you are 'home' I think you might still want to continue to travel so I will put you in Samboo Park. Ordinary, less enlightened people call it Schusters Park, but we both know its mine.

Hmnn should I thank myself for this cache since I share it with petan?

NO LONGER AT THE ABOVE COORDINATES AS I HAVE COLLECTED IT TO MOVE ON.

I was out caching and saw that some moveables that I hadn't seen and some that I had seen, had been left here so I have grabbed them to move interstate in the next week. ClappingClappingClan CerberusClan CerberusClan Cerberus

Saw these pop up in Belconnen, ACT and since I needed to get out of the house I did an evening run to find these caches (but not move them). I agree that particular spot - usually quite a good one given the access - is getting a bit yuk - maybe more of a meeting point these days.
Thanks for putting out the movable for me to enjoy this find evening.

For a bit of a change from sitting in front of the computer solving jigsaws today, I managed to discover this and a few other Moveables in the hands of another cacher before they do move on. They aren't moving much during this period of isolation due to the COVID 19 restrictions which are being lifted gradually so it is good to be able to log these before they do. All available logs were signed and returned to the cache. Thanks Petan for this fellow ClappingClappingClan CerberusClan Cerberus .

Had seen a few moveables come into town a couple of days ago but they were on the wrong side for me to rush over. Waited for them to be dropped off somewhere closer, and today was the day. Headed out to a familiar spot and grabbed this one along with a few mates who had obviously come along for the ride.

Thanks Petan....good to see a few new ones in the capital. Will be moved on soon.

Dropped this off on the way into the ACT to move it on it's way.

Was stuck for a while due to the holder not doing too much travelling lately.

The tub at the drop off point was broken and damp inside so will need to be replaced (we left the TB's in a plastic bag).

With a day off and an event in ‘The Rock’ plus pre-geocaching lead to a great day out. I also got a FTF on the cache ‘Break the Drive – Urana’ (GA12529). Big Grin I started out with collecting the finds around Urana which included the most disgusting cache I have ever found (GC3BDFX). [xx(]Twisted[xx(]Twisted I completely disapprove of that cache and hope to never see a hide like that ever again. [xx(]Twisted[xx(]Twisted I visited a few different spots around and I enjoyed the ‘Leap year 2020 at The Rock’ event hosted by B&MG. A great BBQ and many geo-conversations were had by all. There were also many GCA moveable caches signed while we were there. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found and for allowing them to bring joy to me and the rest of the caching community. Big Grin TFTE and TFTC’s Big Grin
