Description

Have your photo taken standing up inside a tree

I have always been fascinated by trees with huge girths, and my special favourite are those that have been hollowed out with age, and that you can walk inside.

Whilst Geocaching we have found quite a few.

They are the obvious place to hide a cache in, or nearby.

CONGRATULATIONS Ikkibrady on being the first to claim the honours in this Locationless

We visited the Ledgerwood Carved Memorial trees in Ledgerwood Tasmania.

This was taken a long time ago on a trip we did around Australia. A famous tree known as the Boab Prison Tree.
I was amazed how big it was inside!
Photo of a very young me in the entrance gap.

This tree was visited near the end of a 4 day hike in Main Range National Park in SE Queensland. The weather was pleasant at the time but this was very different to most of the previous few days! I was out in the worst storms we have had in decades. It was nice to sort out this fun cache after days of very serious activity.
Thanks for the cache
Cheers

Amazing tree, hollowed by fire, unfortunately I could not convince my friend to get inside as she was afraid of creepy crawlies!

Liawenee, Tasmania

Caching in the area, we spotted this tree and Mr T was game enough to walk inside it.

This tree was hit by lightning. It's on the track to Hidden Falls down in the Huon Valley. This was the highlight of the walk, the falls were just a dribble.

This lovely tree is not too far from Yass. Photo taken by cybergran who is also the CO of this cache.

Not exactly a well known touristy type tree but I found this one when looking for sites to lay a trail of caches. This was just on the side of the road and naturally soon there will be a cache here. There was a tree with a larger cavity which I will get a photo at a future date. Again just beside the road. Very Happy

We have come across quite a few trees that fit the requirements for this cache but wanted to use this incredible example near Walpole in Western Australia.
We were surprised no one else had used it for this cache, even though 2y'stassies had used one in the same area.
I remember when we were there back in 2012 that there was a photo on a board nearby of a combi van parked in the tree.
Thanks.

Spotted this one, and walked inside, in north Vancouver. Was hoping to get back to the area again this year, but now the Geocaching events have officially been pushed back a year, we'll just to wait and book again.

Thanks for another one Cybergran V.

Out and about caching near Merimbula on the weekend and found this tree with a cache inside.

Hollow Tree (Otago) GC67MBM
name says it all. being the skinniest it was my job to walk inside the hollowed out crack willow tree. Cache was above head height and could only be retrieved from the fiddly hook whilst inside the tree. No images taken at time of logging, thankyou for creating this locationless GCA cache Cybergran V
A popular hollow tree nearby was missing and failed to get replaced in time for our holiday. The qualms of searching for a micro listed as a small cache, yeah I couldn't see it either.

Being the skinniest, it was my job to climb up and inside the burnt out remains of the crack willow stump. The mint tin was snagged up high and could only be reached climbing inside the tree stump. No images available at time of logging, thankyou for creating this locationless GCA cache Cybergrann V.

Whilst out geocaching with our son, we found this tree big enough to walk inside. He is over six feet tall and you can see from the size of the trunk it is a huge tree.

Many geocaches I have found inside hollow trees but there was not one inside this tree however there are several caches in the Hollybank Reserve. The trees make the GPS unreliable so I have found caching in this area difficult.

The big tree we're logging here is in the Bunya Mountains NP, Qld. The walking path goes straight through the big fig. Can't miss it. Very Happy
Great idea for a cache. Clapping Thanks Cybergran V

When we saw this cache published we thought of many trees we have seen that we could have stood up in. However the greatest "collection" was in the area near Walpole in Western Australia where Tingle trees grow. The area boats the Giant Tingle Tree that you could (if allowed) garage a large 4WD. However there are many other trees in the area with large hollow butts. the photo added to the Gallery shows Mrs y'stassie standing just inside one of the many Tingle trees in this reserve. Thanks Cybergran V for giving us the opportunity of recalling one of many highlights of our trip west.

I work on a school camp and this tree happens to be onsite so a quick walk down the hill to the tree I was soon inside. It's a tight squeeze but in it i stand. Quite hard to get a good pic by myself. Tfct

On a Geocaching adventure in the St Arnaud area, (and due to the incredible talents of the local GC Geocachers in the vicinity, it is a Geocachers treasure trove), a GC cache brought us to this tree.
Muggle Hubby took this photo of me emerging from this huge tree’s interior.
