Description
One for those who enjoy beaches, as you will walk along four of them if you do the circuit of the peninsula and go for this cache as well (Hazard beach, Cook's beach, Bryan's beach and Wineglass). Be prepared with appropriate camping and hiking gear as you won't be able to get to this cache and back in one day. The only good source of water is at Cook's Hut, the streams were dry or undrinkable when we did the circuit, so bring plenty of water.
The walk to Bryan's beach is one hour from Cook's Hut (we did it in 45 mins walking quickly). Add to that another half hour to walk along the beach itself (a 3 hr return trip in total). The cache shouldn't take long to find with the hint.
Cache container is small with only a logbook and pencil, but feel free to add some small swaps if you like.
Remember that Freycinet is a National Park, so you will need a parks pass.
Enjoy the walk, as it is magnificent!

I have been watching two new cache for a while now waiting to see if anyone else was going to find them. As work requires us to take a four day weekend on show day I thought it would be a great opportunity to go for a walk and find the two new caches on the Freycinet peninsula. I asked the group that did the South West Cape walk with me but only one of them was game enough for another walk with me.
I started the trip on Thursday at 0700 leaving Glenorchy and picking up Grahame and Karl on the way only stopping at Swansea for a coffee. After stopping in at the visitors centre to check on what the water situation was on the tracks we started walking at 1020. We stopped at a little cove just before the start of Hazards Beach for lunch at 1210. After another 3 hours walking we arrived at the camp site at the end of Cooks Beach. The weather was fantastic as was the camping area. After a rest we ventured down to the beach to watch the sunset.
After getting up early we went for a walk out to Weatherhead Point to find a trig point before returning to the camp for morning tea. After that we walked out to Bryans Beach to find one of the new caches that was on our list. From here we continued down to find your cache before continuing on to Passage beach where we had lunch and looked over the ship wreck before returned back to the camp a Cooks Beach.

So this was very much a surprise bonus for the day.
An enjoyable walk along the beach and a nice easy find. The cache is dry & in good condition.
Thanks Hookline, we enjoy these more remote caches & this is one of our favourite places to visit.
A nice cruise across the tranquil waters to within a few metres of the beach. Cold drinks and a BBQ on board to celebrate a cache find in superb surroundings.
Those were my thoughts after having lugged the backpack full of camping gear, by foot to Cooks Hut. Set up camp and was now half way along Bryan's beach trudging the last 800 odd metres to GZ.
It was getting close to 5:00pm and the feet were starting to complain.
That last 800 metres seemed to take ages to cover.
But finally I made it to the end of the beach and after a quick scramble up the shore found the cache in the obvious place
I took a moment to sit down and take in the surroundings and fill in the log book.
The view is spectacular this far south along the peninsula.
A half dozen fridge and BBQ equipped boats were anchored here in the bay.
Now I only had the last 5.6kms to cover to get back to camp !!
TFTC.
Cheers, Geoskid
P.S Hookline - If this cache ever needs a maintenance visit and you cant make it, Please give me a Hoy, I'd love the excuse for a return visit with my son- (or wife or both).
The bay at Bryans was indeed like one gigantic glass of 'Blue Heaven' cocktail with the prominent Schouten Isle ever so present. This certainly is a fantastic location in such a pristine environment and most definitely well worth the walk in.
It was great to be actually back on a beach...so soon had the cache in hand. The log has been signed and a note from a muggle entry who'd stopped by from a cruising yacht. I reckon this is one cache that may get more muggle entries than cachers...as the hide is quite prominent. Hopefully they will all be kind and replace as found...and I'm sure that most will.
Before heading off I took the chance for a cooling paddle...while it was quite cold it was ever so refreshing and boy...did the feet need it.
After a bit of resting I finally left Bryans at 1425 on quite a slow return journey. Thankfully there was still some remaining water in the tanks at Cookes Hut...but down to the last rung...so future cachers take note....you will need to carry all water if coming in over the summer months...3 ltrs min.
The old feet were getting quite a tad sore by now finally signing off at 1930 almost 13 hrs after starting....quite an epic to say the least and one I wouldn't like to repeat...I'll stick to the tracks next time. Most cachers should make the return in around 9 hrs...so certainly doable in a days walk.
Huge thank you Hookline for getting me here as I'm sure I'd of never done so other than for caching...even though I went via the unorthodox way...lol....Cheers.
Thanks Hookline - fantastic cache!
What made me determined was that I have done just this walk several times before. Well it is a lovely hide and easy to find, stunning beach and today the weather was perfect for the views. The walk was 42kms long according to the gps. FTF to me.
Thanks heaps Hookline
