I've Cached Everywhere, Man - GCA Geocache Series

Casino 2.0

I've Cached Everywhere, Man is the largest cache series hidden in Australia. It is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack. Casino is mentioned in the second verse - between Lithgow & Brigalow. I wonder did Lucky Star stop in town, or just buzz through on route to somewhere else...

Casino is a small town of about 10,000 people located in the Northern Rivers of NSW. It's not named after gaming establishments - nor are there any close by. It derives it's name from the Italian town of Cassino (there are no gaming establishments here, either).

Casino is self proclaimed 'Beef Capital of Australia', however Rockhampton in QLD has also claimed this title - and they do have a statue of a big bull. The Meat Co-op in town is the largest private employer in Northern NSW and keeps the local economy in shape. Once a year the town hosts 'Beef Week', a celebration of all things cow. 'Breakfast with the butchers' and a street parade happen during this week, and someones daughter gets crowned 'Miss Beef Queen'. Such an honour.

One remarkable fact about the town is the number of parks within it's boundaries - there are 14 in all, which is a lot for a town of it's size. The Richmond River snakes it's way through town and divides the town into two. The only vehicular crossing is via the Centre Street bridge.

There have been a few well known people exported from Casino. There was a high court judge, Matty King of the Melbourne Storm NRL team, and the purple wiggle - Jeff.

This cache is located near the Casino RV Resort. An accumulation point for grey nomads. I think I'm too young to get in the resort.  You're looking for a small sistema container with a logbook, pencil and a few swaps.

There was plenty of water on the ground here, which made the approach to GZ a bit more difficult that it had to be.

Luckily we found the cache itself pretty quickly before the rain started back up in earnest. It's good to get another ICEM cache under our belt.

Thanks for the cache!

Exploring the area today in search of GCA caches and trigs. Your cache was in our target area and one we found along the way.

Arrived at GZ and searched according to the hint, but no luck. We have replaced cache, to keep it active, (hope this is OK)

Nice to tick another ICEM off the list.

Many thanks MattyRx for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.

Caching around town so stopped to pick this one up, it is very very wet and this time I didn't have caching gear to fix it. TFTC

A quick find as we left Casino. Thanks.

This was our only traditional find as we made our way back towards home after visiting friends in Casino as the emphasis was on as many trigs as possible.

It was an easy find as it was lying upside down out in the open. The log is soaking but I managed to sign. Cache was then placed nearby in a hide.

Heading north (homewards) today via Casino and as we approached town we remembered finding the ‘Casino’ ICEM logbook in Wallangarra. We wondered if we’d find W’garra’s here?. Very Happy. With great anticipation we unlocked the cache to find... this book untitled. Smile
Thanks for the fun and memories MattyRx.

Out and about early this morning and I came across this cache. Its been a while since I logged a GCA find. Will download some local ones to my GPS and then lift my game in finding them. Thanks for the cache MattyRX

Decided to go check out the Hanging Rock Falls today. Invited SMS along for the trip. It was a good day with a number of finds. Only a little bit of rain whilst caching.

Now I can officially say I've cached at Casino.

With the caravan in tow we made a turn in the resort as we also live at a similar lifestyle resort in Queensland. Mr GT54 made the find. TFTC

It had been a very long drive down from Tenterfield and I needed the opportunity to stretch my legs..... rewrite that sentence..... I needed the opportunity for my humans to stretch their legs. I travel in the backpack of course. We turned in the grey nomad place so we could park on the better side of the road. my humans are too young for that kind of place, and went for a walk. It was easy to find the cache.... now can we go and get ice-cream?

Thanks for another ICEM to cross off my list.

Arhh… the old Casino Airport, it doesn't seem that long ago we stopped by to watch a Fokker-50 land. I noticed that the NDB (Aircraft navigation aid) still in place at the other end. Hope the residents are not the type who complain about mobile phone towers and radiation, although the NDB could be switched off... a little too lazy today to go and check.

We too turned in the Grey Nomad compound … is this where old nomads go to die? Didn't want to venture too close unless I got lured in for the sales pitch, ala the old timeshare story.

Cache found in good condition. Thanks for the cache.

Missed seeing this last time we came through as the GPS was too focused on the trig we'd already found. Today we made what looked to be the dead end journey of the grey nomad. Shocked And we fitted in perfectly. Wink In fact, due to the tightness of the road we had to go on in to turn around. So while MrG was doing a great bit of distractive stealth I found the cache. Very surprised to see it was still unfound.... Laughing not any more. {FTF} at 3.27 pm. TFTC and another ICEM MattyRx.

I love how in horror movies the person will ask, "Is anyone there?" As if the killer would say "Oh yeah I'm in the kitchen. Want a sandwhich?"
