Description
This cache is the first (and probably last) in a series of caches showcasing some of Northern NSW's cool and quirky country towns.
S 28° 55.???' E 152° 22.???'
Drake used to be a buzzing place back in the day. The day being 1800's when the gold mining rush was on. It's now got a more laid-back lifestyle, and is located close to halfway between Tenterfield and Casino on the Bruxner Hwy.
I cant remember exactly where I saw the cache - it's not at the listed co-ordinates. I do remember this - to work out the lattitude, you need to add up just the post decimal minutes (the last three numbers) of the latitude at the Car, Pub, Resource Center and Toilets, then divide by the Drake golden ratio of 3.7375 (it's a special constant assigned to this town)
This will give you the last three digits of the latitude.
The Longitude was pretty much the same as when I was at the shop. It was just less a couple of post decimal minutes.
Check out the town map. Click on the image below, and it will allow you to explore the town by browsing some of the amazing postcards I found at the shop. It's almost as good as being there in person! In fact, may be even better than being there in person! Just a note though, by clicking the image below you'll be taken to website that's not geocaching.com.au. It's almost as good though - we've upgraded to HTML 2.0 and put a condom on the power plug of the server, so there's no viruses on our equipment. Or should that be virii. Plural. Just click the town map below.
You can check your solution. Click on 'Geochecker' in the side menu bar, or click here!

And of course, well stocked with swag.
Love your work MattyRx.
Thanks for a great cache and day out.
I can see from the bus in the pub carpark that this is truly an international town. We'll have to come back some other time.
This is a great spot to take a break - or to put it simply, a great Drake break. Toilets, food, park, serenity... if we'd found a postcard for sale we would have bought one to send home. The only thing to watch out for is the police car checking speeds on the eastern side of town where you might get to see more action in Drake than you bargained for. {FTF} at 12.02pm. TFTC MattyRx
