Description

This cache is the second in a series of caches showcasing some of Northern NSW's cool and quirky country towns.

S 28° 38.???'       E 153° 36.???'

Byron Bay didn't always have the laid back millennial hipster vibe that it does today. No no no, is holds a darker past. Don't believe me? Have a look through some of the postcards from back in the day. Click around the town map and I'm sure you'll find all four.

There's even a prize if you can get some information off each postcard. A special treasure hidden within the town! I can't remember exactly where I saw the cache - it's not at the listed co-ordinates. I do remember this - to work out the latitude, you need to add up just the post decimal minutes (the last three numbers) of the latitude at the Lighthouse, Jetty and Whaling Facility, then divide by the 'number of the day':

1.65341

This will give you the last three digits of the latitude.

The Longitude was pretty much the same as when I was at the Wreck. It was just less 10 post decimal minutes.

Check out the town map. Click on the image below, and it will allow you to explore the town and hopefully find the vintage postcards that you need to find the prize. Just a note though, by clicking the image below you'll be taken to website that's not geocaching.com.au. There aren't any viruses on our servers - it's not spec'd high enough for that kind of advanced software to run. Just click the town map below. Trust me.

Checked on this one today. The garden at GZ has been grown so prolific since this was hidden, there's no way to get there anymore. I've re-hidden it nearby and re-jigged the clues so the puzzle works as it should.

Sad
We had a rest after returning home from Queensland today, then headed out 'just for one more'..... that's always risky, tends to mean a prolonged search or DNF (after prolonged search!). We feel we had the circle with the lip, but no cache was under it... another time perhaps....

Awesome puzzle! My first proper Mystery cache and it was a good one! Very Happy

Let's go!

Everything is updated and cache will work with new GZ location.

I checked on this on and it is indeed gone. I've hidden a new cache, but in a better spot than the last one. I'll have to re-jig a few things for this cache to work since GZ has moved. I'll get on it tonight and should have it up and running then.

Well I had a shocker today. Another DNF! I know I was in the right area thanks to the checker but could not get within 5m according to my phone and the GPS. I searched blindly up and down the bank/cliff. Eventually help came but we still had no luck. Frightened children and fast rising tide brought this adventure to a case of "I'll be back"
Despite the DNF, I enjoyed the puzzle and the adventure.

Back in play! Cache has been replaced - but it's now a preform container.

This cache has been now disabled for longer than 90 days.

Unfortunately, the cache will be archived in 28 days if the listing is not re-enabled. This is done to keep the Geocaching Australia database clean and up to date.

We hope the cache can be re-enabled so that cachers can head to find the cache….and enjoy a visit to the area.

Looks like this one is AWOL. I'll check and replace in the next couple of weeks.

A very clever puzzle that we enjoyed solving however we failed to come up with the goods. Out on a cache hunt with whitewebbs. Maybe next time thanks Mattyrx

Day 75 Mainland trip
Out and about caching around Byron Bay and surrounds with Tassie Trekkers. We had fun solving the cleverly designed puzzle but our hunting at GZ failed miserably like the weather.
We hope it is still there and we were just cache blind due to the wind and the rain.

I love love love this geocaching page and puzzle. I love that you have put so much effort into this. And it is fun. But not only is the puzzle fun but the geocache was too. Beautiful location for this cache, and all was in excellent condition. I may have let a couple of dinosaurs free and they attacked each other however I managed to settle them down and get them back in the cache.

Thanks again for another great cache and adventure. Smile

We remember the Byron Bay of many years ago, when the smell of whaling reeked over the town.... and this was a tourist attraction. Confused It sure helped keep the number of holidayers down.

This is a fun puzzle and now that we had it solved, we wanted to look for it. Surprisingly it was still unfound. With all those people crammed into Byron Bay it was hard to believe there wasn't one out hunting down a GCA cache. Shocked Today driving home was the first chance we got. Naturally in a location of mega holiday crowds and small parking areas you pay for the privilege of being able to stop though looking around us, a lot of motorists clearly didn't agree on that score. We were happy to find a park just where we needed one as it could have been a fair hike otherwise. This is a lovely spot to look for a cache, you could make a whole day of it although it wouldn't be cheap if you needed to use the carpark. {FTF} at 10.59am, TFTC MattyRx.

My girlfriend is absolutely beautiful. Body like a Greek statue – completely pale, no arms.
