Description
Pretty one day, perfect the next. But enough about me - let's talk about Hastings Point. This has got to be one of the best places to take the other half or the whole family for an outing. Nothing wrong for a bit of alone time here either. There's a pretty river that is great for the young kids. A few nice open beaches either side of the point for swimming and surfing. Lots of picnic spots around GZ, with toilets and tables in close vacinity.
The cache is hidden in plain sight - it can be a high muggle area when the sun is out and the water is that greenish blue colour. Hint will help you find it real easy.

Logs
On our caching afternoon from Pottsville to Kingscliff. It soon became obvious we weren't going to get everything done, so we scrapped the GC trads, and stuck to ALs, trigs and GCA trads, which turned into a great afternoon.
Seeing the GZ area, we had a good idea what to look for, and the hint confirmed it - it did take a few minutes before I spotted it though. It is in need of some repairs, the outer was a bit of an ant colony, and the insides were wet. The waterproof log is OK despite, and to rub salt into your wounds we've flogged the pencil too! Sorry....

It's a gorgeous afternoon at Hastings Point. I haven't been here for quite some years before the bypass. The beaches and white sand make a picturesque image. I walked towards the headland and had no trouble finding the cache. I like the ones hiding in plain sight. It was easy to reach through, retrieve the cache and sign the log without attracting attention. Thanks for reminding of these beautiful locations.
out and about checking caches and finding a virtual and saw this one on my route so just had to stop cause I enjoy MattyRX's caches TFTC
First find on GCA. Just the way to celebrate Valentines Day. Nice one .

Drove up to the headland before tackling this one where there were heaps of muggles. We presume they were whale watching but we didn't spot any while we were here.
Found this one right under a pair of undies!!!!
Thanks again for another quality cache at another beautiful beach.

To echo Samboo's log, this is a favourite place to stop on the Tweed Coast. I think its the favourite of a lot other people too. From time to time its used as a campsite over the Easter period, and no doubt people are still visiting it in homage to its role the lighthouse in the Aquaman movie. While the top of the light house was CGI, the actual house externals were built as a set, although its long gone and the film crew only left footprints and the occassional patch of flattened grass. We visited two or three weeks after they finished filming.
Thanks for the cache.

Now you've told the whole world about one of my favourite fish and chip places. I thought it was our secret. You see we've watched the little shop across the road grow from being a good fish and chip shop, to being a great fish and chip shop, and they do a pretty good hamburger too. But its not just about food, its a nice spot where we like to look at the water and the waves. One time we were there, there was a sea eagle just gently gliding around, upsetting the scrub turkeys in the bush near the toilet block. But he was more interested in fish in the creek and he dived for them a couple of times, but the fish was quicker.
But I forgive you for telling the world about this spot, we know its really hard to get a picnic table in summer which is why we waited until now to come and find the cache. There was still a lot of people enjoying the water.
Thank you for the cache.

Hastings Point has to be the most well kept secret ever! We still can't understand why a beautiful place with such great places to swim, especially the little bay near GZ, hasn't bit in and took off like the Gold Coast. We can only presume the locals want to keep it this way. This was the most tempting spot of all the places around the Kingscliff area we saw today, to make us ditch our plans and while away the day in the water and under one of the shady trees.... and we had our pick of trees as there was no one else here. But the grassed area marked out in squares we walked through to get to GZ makes us think this serenity is coming to an end, like about this weekend. So glad we came for the cache today. Oh yeah, the cache.... you know it's a good spot when you forget that's the reason you came. {FTF} at 12.39pm. TFTC MattyRx.
