Description

Please note: Multigrip Pliers may be required to open this cache!

Currumbin is cool. Currumbin creek flows out into the ocean, and that creek is pretty no matter which end of it you are swimming in. The beach was awarded 'The Cleanest Beach in Australia' in 2013. That's a pretty big achievement.

The beach is home to two bloody big rocks. Currumbin Rock and Elephant Rock. Ooh, there's a cache there too.  Currumbin Alley is a popular surfing site formed on the bar of Currumbin Creek, particularly for longboards.

The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a popular tourist spot and as part of the GeoTour, don't forget to feed the lorikeets. Although they won't show if there's a solid source of nectar in bloom. There's also some Gold Coast history here and here too!

The cache is designed to blend in to its surroundings and is hidden in plain sight. Due to the nature of how the container is constructed, there's only room for a pencil and a logsheet. There is information recorded on the cache container that will assist you in finding the Gold Coast Beaches GeoTour Challege Cache. (Surely I could have thought of a better name)

Waited until most of the surfers had finally given up for the day. Quick find - surprised it was still here given the number of kids who must pass by here each day.

This morning, I topped up my go explore pass, hopped on a bus and headed up to Currumbin to go and find some caches.
I ended up wandering in the direction of Palm Beach and targeted a few hides in particular, though I didn't get quite as far north as I expected, having somewhat overestimated my phone battery's mileage!

It's been a while since I've done a cache in this series, but I knew what to expect and quickly spotted the hide once I'd arrived at gz.
A lucky break in the beachgoing muggles allowed me to retrieve and sign the log without any eyebrows raised and all was replaced back as it was found.

Thanks to MattyRx for the hide! Very Happy

Thanks for the cache. Found during a visit to the Swell Sculpture Festival with No_Tomorrow.
Cheers

found with Wayn0 whilst checking out the Swell sculpture display. I wouldn't have known if this sculpture show I'd it wasn't for Petan Samboo and Max sharing their adventures here on facebook and instagram.

Did a few of these today and we were super impressed by the quality of the hides. What made them even better was that they were all GCA hides!!!
This one was a bit tricky as there were three muggles nearby with a clipboard surveying the area. Think they were planning a wedding.
And would you believe that just because I was trying to be discreet I had trouble getting the lid off.
Remember getting a cache back at the parking area for this one many years ago.
Thanks.

By the time we arrived at Currumbin (after riding from Rainbow Bay) the lights were on and the dog walkers/power walkers/cyclists were getting less. Christmas parties however were in full swing and it was hard to just not saunter on in, grab a drink and mingle as we were getting a bit hungry with all the delicious smells wafting around. Now was a great time to be riding the beach path and we were surprised to find it went all the way to Currumbin though clearly google maps haven't caught up with this new construction yet. GZ was as far up as we went today... and waddyaknow... the size 11 pink thong (as in footwear Laughing ) is still here... TFTC MattyRx.

If Kirra was the beach grew up on, Currumbin is now my beach as a adult as its closer to home. Its also a favourite after work walking route, although Schuster Park has had more attention in recent weeks. The last week or so has been incredibly busy at work and now those projects have been completed, it was nice to get out and suck some briny air into my lungs and clear the head.

This cache was my 'yay' I can relax a little, and another Gold Coast Beach Geotour cache for my collection.

Thanks for the fun.

We had a micro adventure this afternoon to celebrate that Suzy's very busy week has ended and she is officially on holidays, even though she still has some stuff to do at work next week. We went down to the beach and found another Gold Coast Beaches cache.

I thought Cinderella had gotten there first because there was a size 11 pink thong next to where the cache was hiding. The logbook was empty- yay! I didn't bother searching for ladies only wearing shoe, my name is not Prince Charming.

Thank you for the cache.
