Description

ICEM - Wayatinah.

This cache is part of the I've Cached Everywhere, Man (ICEM) project, a series of Geocaching Australia caches in Australia.   The series had it's first airing in 2011 and now in 2018 Geocaching Australia is promoting the series again in the hope the number of caches in the series can be increased.

The series is made up of the locations made famous by Lucky Star in the song "I've been everywhere" in 1962, lyrics by Geoff Mack.

Wayatinah is a small Tasmanian Rural Location within the local government area of Central Highlands, it is located approximately 87kms from the capital Hobart covering an area of 59.531 square kilometers. Wayatinah has a recorded population of only 34 residents. Wayatinah was formed as the village for the six-station Lower Derwent hydro-electric scheme. There is a camping area and limited caravan parking, heated pool, tennis court, golf course, squash courts and a tavern. A boat ramp is available and excellent trout fishing, so if you're in the area, stop by and add another ICEM to your list of finds

I've cached in Ulverstone, Dulverton, Smithton, Burnie,
Queenstown, George Town, Campbell Town, Swansea
Lilydale, Scottsdale, Berriedale, Bicheno
Rosebury, Fentonbury, Dodges Ferry, Jericho
Cockle Creek, Lake Leake, Sisters Creek, Winneleah
Wayatinah, Poatina, Tulendeena... yeah, I've cached there!

Have fun with this cache, and if you think you can to the growing list of ICEM caches, check out this link to see what locations might still require one...or two.

Hi Stainless Steel Rat,
Out and about primarily finding the HEC Derwent series with this cache on my list too.
Found the cache hide where the covering stone was in situ, but alas the cache had gone.
Carrying plenty of spares, the cache was replaced with a small black screwtop container with log and biro.
A pretty spot out here and a nice quiet location.
Many tftc....thoroughly enjoyed...cheers ST.

I couldn't locate this last Saturday as GZ seemed to be in an inappropriate area. On checking I found that I had made an error with writing down the co-ords. With the correct co-ords it was an easy find my first for today on my return from Hobart to "North of the Border". Very Happy

Decided to go in search of caches to get more ammo for the battleship game. Left home at 9.30 am and returned at 6.30 pm covering 400 kms and this one was on the list and found. Cache was missing so replaced with CO's permission A cold day at Wayatinah. TFTC

Today whilst working at Ouse i had extra time up m sleeve to travel back North so it was decided id come back via Wayatinah and Tarraleah then back from Bronte park to the Great Lake Hotel. I grabbed a hand full of caches along the way to make the drive more enjoyable.

This cache wasn't there when i arrived at ground zero, looks like a trend of wandering by previous logs, searched everywhere but no luck. then i remembered i had some spare containers in the ute so i replaced with a small sistema container with a logbook, unfortunatley i didnt have a pencil to leave behind. Thanks for bringing me to this great place Stainless-Steel-RAT Clan Cerberus

This was our first stop after leaving home on the way to Bradys Lake for a night camping before heading to the west coast. It was a beautiful warm summers afternoon and a pleasurable drive here. Once at GZ the cache was found easily and we swapped the coffee jar out for a small sistema clip lock box. TFTC!
Cheers,

Today we had to take an office chair to Launceston for repairs so decided to take a round about route and look for this cache on the way. It is the only ICEM in Tasmania that we have yet to find.

It was raining and blowing a gale when we pulled up near by. Coats on and GPS in hand we were soon at the object mentioned in the hint. To our horror the hiding spot was bare. We looked here there and everywhere within a 35m radius of the object our GPS indicated was GZ 1m. Finally we had to admit defeat.

We contacted the CO and got the heads up to leave a replacement. Next problem. After several trips to the mainland this year our replacements box is empty of containers. We had pencils and log books in plastic bags but no suitable container to leave. So it was up to the shop to see what we could find. Alas no Woolies or Coles so no plastic. The only thing we found was a small jar of coffee. So that had to be it. Coffee granules emptied into several small plastic bags. Jar wiped out with towel and replacement log in bag added. Jar then tucked away under a blanket of needles. Hope it lasts until the next searcher visits.

Thanks for this ICEM cache Stainless-Steel-Rat and for today's little challenge. The replacement container is a glass jar so needs to be replaced with a suitable plastic container to avoid the possibility of broken glass.

Heading back to Launceston via Queenstown we managed to make a quick find here in between a shower of rain. Experienced snow falling at Derwent Bridge and 3 degrees.

We had recently been advised that one of our Hamilton caches may need attention, so we travelled up there today to check it. We had lunch at the Wild Fennel Café and then decided that as it wasn’t too far to drive on to Wayatinah we would try to find this cache. We have found several in the series and are now happy to add this one to our list. Thanks for placing a cache here SSR.
