Logs
Picked the wrong stump to start with but after grabbing the GPS out of the car, we were soon at the correct GZ. Found the cache after a good search as it was well and truly buried in leaf litter. The cache was pretty full of water when we found it but the log book was nice and dry. The amount of old stumps around here just goes to show how busy the logging here must have been all those years ago. An interesting spot. TFTC!

"Hello Tassie Trekkers thank you for the cache.
Today AmazingDaughter, EeePees and I had come up to Mathina to do a road closure for a car rally.
We were lucky enough to have a bit of free time before the dinner so we went for a drive and found some caches.
This cache wasn't on EeePees list so when we first started looking in the wrong stump he wasn't sure I had taken him to the right spot once I walked to the right stump it was a quick find.
It wasn't until a fair bit later we realised this was a GA cache and that was why my mate couldn't see it on the GC app. Ha ha ha.
I love the way that a forest that had been extensively logged before as the stumps show, re grows into a forest that is worthy of been a reserve.

Hi there TassieTrekkers,
Was in the general area doing a 'road closure' for a car rally, with AlbyDangles and (his) AmazingDaughter, a great day out in the nearby Nicholas Plantation. Once our official duties were over, we had some spare time before the after-event dinner and presentations; and so an impromptu caching adventure began. Tossed up whether to head up Hogan's Road, but opted to visit the Evercreech and Mathinna waterfalls first, and so this was the first cache we arrived at, but I had no access to see the listing (or the pic) !
Turns out I can claim Third to Find this cache - I found it in the hands of AlbyDangles as I had to first descend from the top of "Ye Old Other Stump" that was our initial focus!
All is fine at GZ; cache is in good condition; thanks for the adventure.
As an aside, I led a 'waterfall-crawl' with a group of Venturer Scouts in a mini-bus just over 20 years ago, taking in Lilydale, Cuckoo, Ralphs, St Columba, Evercreech, Mathinna, Meadstone, Hardings, Meetus, and Lost Falls - a big day, 14hours return Launceston to Launceston (city, not waterfall) which included nearly 6 hours of walking. Another great day.

After a late change of plan for today we headed to Cached's Mathinna block and then on to the Evercreech Forest Reserve to look for this cache. We spotted the hide and ignored the GPS because it wanted us some distance away. The covering material was quickly spotted and the container extracted. Container and contents were in very good condition and we were pleased the log book was blank giving us a {FTF} at 15:55 5 weeks after the cache was published.
Thanks for this cache Tassie Trekkers. We always enjoy visiting this interesting reserve.
