Description

A-Z of fish, reptile & insect photos

Followong the alphabet, starting with A, log a photo of an fish, reptile or insect. This could be difficult to do, so we have combined 3 categories. You are welcome to use adjectives to assist. If it is still too hard move on down the alphabet to the next letter. It's meant to be fun so enjoy. You may log more than once and the same fish, reptile or insect name can be repeated from an earlier log.

Checking out a few locationless caches to fill in the day and get a geocaching fix and came across this one. The photo in the gallery is of a lizard (blue tongue) taken in the backyard. TFTL

K = Killer Insect (Robber Fly)

I didn't think K would be hard in this category, but it is.
I chose Killer Insect.
The Robber Fly is just that. It may look small but it packs a nasty killer sting to insects it wants for a meal!
I took this photo after it paralysed a bee. Not a pretty sight!

A day at Melbourne Zoo should help me here.

Well it took awhile but I soon found what I needed.

A 'Jungle Carpet Python' it was.

Not much activity going on it was having a lazy day.

EEL
We saw this lovely big eel in a creek at Central Station on Fraser Island. The water was clear and the white sandy bottom gave us a good view of it.

Dolphin

We really enjoyed seeing the dolphins in the shallows at Monkey Mia when we visited Western Australia. Two photos have been added to the Gallery of dolphins in the shallows on the beach. It was a wonderful experience to be so close to these highly intelligent creatures.

Crocodile

I had to check what type of creature a crocodile is - a reptile. This photo of a very large crocodile adorns the wall of the General Gordon Hotel, Homebush, QLD. A great pub with all sorts of interesting things to see & photograph. The croc was dining on a feral pig when its photo was taken as it crossed the road.

*B* Beetle Rhino beetle.

Well how coincidental can this new locationless cache be. It was only yesterday morning whilst sitting on our front patio that we discovered this Rhino beetle sitting on the window sill. Well you never know when you will need a photo of a beetle so Mrs GT54 took the pic for future reference.
Thanks for the cache, we love this challenge. TFTC

Rhinoceros Beetles. ... In fact, they are Australia's largest beetle. Rhino Beetles only live in warm coastal tropical or subtropical climates, so in Australia they are mostly found in Queensland, the Northern Territory and northern New South Wales. Clan MinotaurClan MinotaurVery Happy
