Description
Diggers Camp |
This spot is named after the Clarence Valley's only gold mine that operated here in the late 1800's. Now, there are a different sort of treasure to be found. . The main beach at Diggers is about 500 metres long. The southern end is moderately protected by a series of low rocks that extends seaward, and the swimming in this cosy corner is a safer proposition than at the more exposed northern end. There’s also a long beach that extends up from the northern rock cluster, that stretches north to Minnie Water. You'll also notice there are no power lines or streetlights out here. Diggers is largely off-grid and solar panels are on most rooftops. There's no shop here either. This helps keep the place quiet. The road in is horrible. It's so rutted and dusty/muddy. Your car is going to get dirty. 2WD cars can make it quite easily, just don't go too fast. Spot the trig point on the way in! |
