Diggers Camp

This spot is named after the Clarence Valley's only gold mine that operated here in the late 1800's. Now, there are a different sort of treasure to be found.

.

The main beach at Diggers is about 500 metres long. The southern end is moderately protected by a series of low rocks that extends seaward, and the swimming in this cosy corner is a safer proposition than at the more exposed northern end. There’s also a long beach that extends up from the northern rock cluster, that stretches north to Minnie Water.

You'll also notice there are no power lines or streetlights out here. Diggers is largely off-grid and solar panels are on most rooftops. There's no shop here either. This helps keep the place quiet.

The road in is horrible. It's so rutted and dusty/muddy. Your car is going to get dirty. 2WD cars can make it quite easily, just don't go too fast. Spot the trig point on the way in!

This cache is part of the Clarence Coast Secluded Secret Spots tour - a series of nine traditional geocaches of various shapes and sizes and a single bonus Earth(like)Cache that can be found by visiting the cache page and answering a few questions. The caches are all at Secluded Secret Spots, meaning that most people visiting the area don't find these particular locations, or they pass them by. They are all quiet locations perfect for some alone or couple time, but also perfect to let the family run round and be themselves. It would be very surprising to find someone that doesn't agree that these areas are beautiful.

Looks like it's missing - I'll replace this one on my next trip down.

The road in is first class so a big improvement. We found the chair but not the cache. Chair has seen better days so perhaps the fixture has fallen away. Deep water flowing out of dune made for tricky searching down low. Saw the trig thanks.

looks like I wasn't really first to find this. see attached pic. gorgeous place though. TFTC Smile

I was playing chess with my friend and he said, ‘Let’s make this interesting’. So we stopped playing chess.
