Description

Ashfield is a Sydney suburb approx 11 klms west of the CBD.   Ashfield Park is a spacious, leafy park, with the Ashfield War Memorial located almost in th parks centre.   The War Memorial was unveiled in 1921 and commemorates Australians who served and died in conflict.  The park is well maintained and has a bowling club, cricket oval and childrens play ground.   The picnic shelters are built of local stone and are often fully utilised on most weekends year round.

This cache has been placed to entice cachers to the area and to fill a hole on the Sydney dragonZone map.    The cache can be found near the cenotaph, behind the rocks in the front of the light pole LE20762.   Simply sit on the rock and look behind the centre one.   There is no need to go into the garden.   See gallery for spoiler photo.

No problem finding this one after Greenway parkrun. Although the camo was pretty thick now and the cache very well hidden.

When we started to plan our assault on the dZ areas around Sydney there were no dragon zones caches in Ashfield. When we did our last check we noticed that there were now two dZ caches in this zone curtesy of those two dZcache hounds - Sol De lune and LuckyL10n.

We enjoyed walking through this lovely park with its many different recreational areas. We had no trouble locating the well hidden container which
fitted so well into its environment Though the area around the cache hide was quite wet the cache contents were dry.

Thanks for this cache Sol de Lune and for making sure this dZ had a dZ cache

#GA3658 - 00:00; I was out and about with the CO on a caching mission in Sydney and filling a few zone holes when this cache was placed. Now that it has been logged, I'll log my claim as well. Hope a few of the locals as well as us interstaters will take advantage of this hide to add another dragonZone to their tally. TFTC Sol de lune Very HappyClan Cerberus

Sol de lune I found your cache Ashfield Cenotaph on 27/04/19, 10:23 am. This is my find # 105 and find # 3 today. Thought it wasn't there until I looked even deeper. Lest we forget. Thanks for the cache! TNSLLN

Just like the previous this one was FTFed by rsdbackspider too. But that didn’t make it less adventurous as we had no idea what we were looking for. Found with HanorahTLG and GeoDirk together! TFTC.
