Description

... and around a bit to the left.

During the peak season (and I guess a lot of the off-season as well) the track to Wineglass Bay feels more like a highway. Even so, it is still a marvellous location, and well worth the attention. This cache is a short rock hop away from the beach (and most of the muggles), and will hopefully provide you with some scenic rewards for your extra effort.

And yes, it's in a national park, so costs apply. See the Parks & Wildlife Service's site (http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=3363) for more information.

The cache is a cammo 200ml sistema container with logbook and pen.

#GA4094 - 15:25; Set off with the geohoney for Launceston to collect the geodaughter from the plane with a plan to head to Coles Bay and complete the Freycinet circuit to Wineglass Bay returning via Hazards Beach. Collected some new caches on the way down and had now reached our destination. I veered off the track to head over and collect this well concealed cache. Another great spot to come and visit. Having made our way down the hill, it seemed and inspired choice to do the circuit and take the lowland track back to the start even though it's a bit longer! TFTC gorbak Very HappyClan Cerberus

Late afternoon, mid week and mid winter on a fairly cool winter’s day, so not so much of a highway today. On reaching the beach was delighted to discover that we had the beach to ourselves, this lasted for roughly 10 minutes before the ookies arrived in dribs and drabs. Loz loved the beach and the views and likely snapped off inxs of 100 photos. I did some rock hopping and soon had the cache to hand. An excellent adventure.. thanks..!!

Gorbak thank you for the cache.

It was a very easy find while muggles watched the whale in the bay.
I'm suprised no one has found in the last three years.

EeePees and I found it while doing an afternoon walk along the Wine Glass Bay Hazard Beach circuit.
Found at 2:15:00 PM

Wow. A lovely spot. I've been to Wineglass Bay many times before, but never explored around these rocks, nor sadly have I walked the beach. I think this visit is the first time I've been here and not seen any wildlife. There's usually a wallaby or two on the beach, and often a pod of playful dolphins. Today apparently there was a whale, but I didn't see it. Thanks for the cache gorbak.

Found today with and by AlbyDangles.

*My main task this weekend was providing transport to Freycinet for some scouts hiking in the area. Too good an opportunity to pass by for geocaching in between, and as there was a spare seat, I called on AlbyDangles for company. We left the Freycinet carpark after 2:30pm to do the Hazards Beach loop, grabbing any caches along the way, both GC and GA, including nearby GC1RHTC that's still in place that we found and signed, but cannot add a log as it's been archived. After a very nice tea of local pizza, we headed out by torchlight for more caches at the lighthouse and out past SleepyBay; and then a few more on Sunday morning to top off a great weekend.*

Found on the way to Cooks beach with Scouts along with a couple of the kids. A nice easy find in a quite out of the way spot.

790. What a fabulous spot for lunch. And that's what we did. After the find we sat/lay/reclined on the rocks and took in one of the greatest beaches in the world. Hopefully coming back tomorrow on the cruise to get a different perspective of this iconic area.

Thanks for the cache and the stopper.

We were doing the excellent loop walk around Wineglass bay & Hazard beach. Delightful spot with a great view of the beach from the cache location. Quite a number of people on the first part of the walk and at the beach - it being a sunny & warm day - but the cache is generally well away from prying eyes. Really enjoyed this walk and the cache was a bonus. Thanks Gorbak.

Only one pair of muggles in the bay with us today and sure enough they followed us round on the rocks. We had a bite to eat while they took 5000 photos of themselves and the glorious surroundings. Geohubby managed to grab the cache when they were'nt looking. I logged the find and then when their backs were turned again we rehid it.
We wondered if perhaps they were cachers too and waiting for us to leave but they followed us back onto the beach, so I guess not. TFTC [^]

A nice bit of rock hopping, spotted a good school of shrimp. Thankfully the muggles don't venture this far around. Awesome view. TNLN TFTC

We completed the circuit today been 30 years since we 1st did it. Nice to revisit the area and grab a couple of caches on the way. Would not have visited this beautiful spot if not for your cache so thanks for bringing us here. Made an easy find co ords spot on TFTC.

Found whilst touring Tasmania, our home being Perth, WA. A nice quick find at GZ. Spent a while here and had our morning snack and a bit of a break before heading back up the hill. Left one of our pathtags. Thanks for bringing us to this fantastic location.

We once more had a top day going to a magnificent site, easily found with no risk from muggles despite there being 50 or more on the beach.
The cache had water in it and the pen was missing though the log was dry have and I had my own pen which I would have left in container if it had fitted. Thanks Gorback for once again leading a couple of Mainlanders to a delightful spot. Very Happy Vasco and his Duck

Easy find after completing the walk over Mt Graham, unable to sign logbook. Need a pen.

Pen would not work to sign the log, needs a new one. We where travelling very light so no spare pens on us today after our epic round trip of the peninsular.

Very Happy The second find of the morning after a walk from the campsite at the other end of the beach. It felt great to drop the pack and wander along the foreshore without the additional weight. Although I have visited many times I am always taken with the views. TNLN. TFTC!

On Dads 44th birthday we did a spot of caching and what a beautiful day to come a caching. It was a gorgeous day for a walk and GeoD was gracious enough to point the GeoPrincess toward GZ after her HARD walk (which was going to get alot harder on the way out Pray ).

Took: Nothing Left: Pink Monkey Head

TFTC - loved this location Laughing

A great walk in to GZ on a beautiful day. Quite a few muggles around but with lot's of bay to share stealth was not really an issue. After a bit of "a moment" geoD pointed The geoPrincess to the prize.

TNLN SL Enjoyed the view TFTC

On more than one occasion we nearly gave in to the very hard climb from the start of the track up to the Wineglass Bay lookout - really tested our stamina. Once there, the views were stunning and made the descent down the other side worthwhile. The actual location of the cache was well away from the 100+ muggles enjoying the beach and gave a different perspective to the vista. Once near GZ, a quick find. TFTC

Weather not as nice as it could have been but still a very pleasant walk
Thanks Gorbak

A nice walk down to bay 16 years after I last was here.
Not too busy today with the weather rather dodgy.

18-Feb-09
After walking the less travelled trails down to Bryan's beach yesterday, I returned northward this morning and took the detour to Wineglass Bay.
It was an overcast and drizzly morning which was making the scenery that much more dramatic and beautiful.
I was hoping the weather would keep the muggles away too.
It did seem to be when I arrived, but almost as soon as I sat on a comfy rock for a rest the rush hour arrived :O
It was like a tidal wave of muggles pouring out of the gap in the trees.
So I wandered off to find the cache and escape.
A bit of fun rock hopping later and I was almost at GZ.
Looking back the crowd seemed to be following me !!
But the last big cleft in the rocks seemed to halt their progress Smile
I found the cache under my seat and quickly filled in the logbook.
Time for some photos!!
Then it was back to the beach to face the traffic on the highway...
TFTC.

This cache was certainly not the end of the highway....but for me just the start. I was getting along at a fair clip and didn't turn on the GPSr until the hazards junction...when whoa there nelly....had just gone past a tad...so quickly back tracked onto shoreline and another magic location. Days like this you just wish you had the boat with you...lovely and calm. Another ripper gorbak...nice hide too. With two FTF's under the belt so early in the day...what could be better...so it was now off on my intended journey to Bryans Beach. Many thanks gorbak...Cheers.
