Description

A puzzle cache hidden in the Fern Glade area

Fern Glade Reserve is not far from the city of Burnie and is a lovely quiet area to take a leisurely walk.  The Emu River passes throught the reserve on it's way to Bass Strait nearby and if you're lucky you might spot the resident platypus going about his business.

The Emu River was named by explorer Henry Hellyer who saw emu tracks in the area.  The Tasmanian emu is thought to have become extinct about 1850 so no emus here for a very long time.

The cache is not hidden at the given coordinates, in order to find it you will have to solve the code below.  At times the cache maybe almost impossible to retrieve without attracting attention, please try to be inconspicuous.

Had solved this cache a long time ago, so long ago that I was not sure if it was the solved coordinates in my GPS or not. A quick check and yes they were. I jumped out of the car and found the cache at the first place I looked

3 days off from work, and Geo Kid O joined me on a journey to Stanley and then down along the western explorer road towards Corinna. We have a great time finding a number of caches and driving a road I had not travelled on before.

The Western Explorer road was closed for a while and recently had been reopened with a new bridge near Balfour. Some very interesting sights along the way, with part of the road feeling more like a forest track, and other parts felt like a place where no one else has gone in the past, other than on the road. The open button grass plains were amazing along with the mountain views.

We stayed in Stanely, and the caches in and around Stanely were very good, including one walk to the top of the Nut. Gee that is a steep 400 metre walk.

Thank you for the cache which was part of our journey

Was intending to find the Platypus cache but too many cars in there, so headed up the hill to this cache.
Had the cache solved for awhile...saw the hide on approaching gz where the cache was found in top condition.
Many TFTC sharnie's tribe....cheers ST.

Solved this one last night ready for an assault today on the GCA caches around Burnie.
Pulled up at GZ but had to wait for an elderly muggle walking up the road to reach his car and leave.
Then a quick find by Mr Beetle in the obvious place.
Have visited this location many times in the past when horses ruled our world and not geocaching!!!
Thanks.

Hi sharnies
A quick "raid" on the NW Coast to look for GAs proved to be a long day
I travelled just short of the 900 km
My total finds cost me 11034 steps; 1825 calories in walking 8.58 km to make them

Left the car parked on the road and had a small walk to the cache
I had a quick find and the cache was Sainted at 1104 hours
Enjoyed the walk but didn't have the right animal with today for jump

TFTC and cheers

Thanks for the puzzle cache Sharnie's tribe. RLD4963 were staying nearby for a few days and we decided to spend a morning exploring this area. I had solved this cache a few days earlier in preparation for our visit so we grabbed this one early this morning. A nice quick find at GZ.

Had a few things to do along the coast so decided to spend a little time locating caches that had been placed in recent months.

Even in drizzle it is a pleasant drive in this area. We had no trouble solving the puzzle and locating the cache which we found well tucked away in a sensible hide. Container and contents were in good condition.

Thanks for this nice little puzzle cache Sharnie's Tribe. We had the place to our selves today so could search without worrying about nearby muggles.

today we decided to make an assualt on the fernglade series of caches since never being in the area today was a good opportunity to explore a new area.
once at the ground zone and using the hint, it led to a quick find and signing of the log. this was a very beautiful area and exploration of the area was much enjoyed.

This got the best of me. A work colleague and I both saw this published the other day and when I got to work this morning he told me that he nearly went through this morning before work. But he didn't. I got home tonight and it was eating away at me Rolling Eyes . As soon as the better half came home wi said " let's go for a drive?!" Gave her time to change out of her work clothes and we were off! Dancing we weren't too sure that we could get a FTF? But guess what?? WE DID!! Laughing Thanks Sharnie's
