Description

The worlds largest virtual solar system..

NEPTUNE

The Solar System Drive was an idea by Coonabarabran astronomer John Shobbrook in 1997. The aim was to provide a unique opportunity for tourists and students to experience first hand the vastness of our solar system and create an interest in astronomy and science. The billboard planets are along five main roads that lead to Coonabarabran. The virtual solar system is a scaled model that's 38 million times smaller than outer space.

To put it into perspective ...

If you're travelling in your car at 100 km/hr along the Solar System Drive you'd be "virtually" hurling through space at a million km per second - more than three times faster than the speed of light.

Congratulations Tassie Trekkers and whitewebbs - FTF

We paid this cache a visit today and the shorter team member had to extract the taller member from the cool of the geomobile to retrieve this cache.

Thanks for this cache Geono. We like the concept of the virtual universe. There seem to be several of these around the big island.

We didn't have Dunedoo on the itinerary for the day, but spotted the cluster of GA caches here and figured the diversion was worth sacrificing a few GCs for.... this is the second Neptune board we've seen today. Now we'll need to a weekended out here to find the rest! Log in good condition.... TFTC!

Dayboro trip. Day 14. I spent the night in Moree and began the next leg of my journey south to Tooraweenah. It was good to get some caches in each of the towns I passed through including Narrabri. It was a nice day and getting cooler as I went.

I have done a few caches around here before.

Thanks for the cache
