Description

Have your photo taken at one of the silos

The tiny township of St James in Victoria has painted its way onto the map with the beautiful art work on four silos in the main street easily accessible for your viewing pleasure.

These paintings depict the importance of wheat growing, cartage, and storing, to the district, as well as the humble beginnings of G.J. Coles, who had his first store in this town, and went on to have huge stores in many more cities in Australia.

There is an interesting GC Multi relating to this story, and a cleverly concealed GC traditional in this town too.

All you need do is have your photo taken at one or more of these wonderfully painted silos.

Congratulations Lis + Pete on FTF honours

This was next on our silo tour while on our circuitous way home today. After admiring the silos, I got GrunDes to grab the required shot of me at 11:50 and we were soon on our way. Dancing

Passing through the area after staying with family in Corowa and visiting Wagga for a few nights.
Out and about caching and taking photos en route for home. I always try and take a different way home - taking the roads less travelled. Dancing

Today Pa, TG47 drove me up the North East Silo Art Trail catching up on the art that has been done since last time we were here. GJ Coles was just being outlined then so it is great to see all the extra work. TFTV Cybergran V that encouraged us to come back this way again. Very HappyClan Cerberus

#GA5553 - 16:00; Day 2 of the Wang Mega tour with Sol de lune. We had finished our caching adventures in and around Wangaratta and were now headed towards Echuca where we plan to spend the night, doing some caching along the way. LuckyL10n and I attended the Mega at Wangaratta and then headed to Mildura as LL had some non caching business to sort, via a road trip past some of the great silo art. These are amazing to see up close and well worth the effort to drive to. Photo was grabbed and we were soon on our way.

Thanks for reason to visit Cybergran.....

Mr Morris has a few weeks off but with border restrictions we thought we'd do a slow lap of Victoria while we had some good weather.

We stopped here for lunch on our way through to Beechworth. TFTV Cybergran V

We're doing a loop from Wangaratta to Wangaratta today, via the painted silos. We've really enjoyed the talent on display, the horses on a couple of the silos in particular are wonderful. Required photo attached. TFTC

This had not been done last time we came through. A reminder of the humble roots of some of our great achievers.

A great place to stop and break the journey, get out of the car and stretch my legs.
I took some great shots whilst Muggle Hubby was busy locating the nearby traditional.
Only including one photo in this gallery, I don’t want to spoil your pleasure in discovering the others.
Well worth a visit, some of the best silo art work we’ve seen so far.
