Description
No you will not find any lakes in this small community. It is in fact named for an early prospector on Cape York Peninsula, William Lakeland.
This is another great place for a rest while travelling north .There are interesting facts about the area to be learned nearby, including about James Earl (1874 -1907), explorers Hann and Mulligan, the discovery of gold which brought the prospectors, Cyril Anderson (1974 - 2001) and Arthur and Charlie Wallace .
Enjoy the artwork and happy caching.

While the kids had a play in the nearby attraction, and before the obligatory photo with the entrance to the Cape sign, Dad wandered over and found the cache on the ground, attached to the post. The lack of plant life around the pen really made it stick out.
Thanks for the cache!

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 41. Daintree Village to Cooktown via Mount Molloy Day 2. After a refreshing night on the range, I was up with the trucks and soon ready to head onwards towards Cooktown. There was only one stop along the way, at Lakeland for two caches and a morning tea snack. I arrived in Cooktown just after lunch time and set up before heading out to tackle two caches I failed on my last visit which I now had intel for. Then a quick drive around town to see what has changed in six years. Quite a bit really. The new park at the river mouth is amazing.
I am afraid I could no locate this one
Thanks
