Description

A TASTER FOR THE REAL DUNCAN

This cache is an additional cache for those going to do Dial 2 for Duncan GCP3VK, a cache a lot more cachers should do. That one is a decent walk amply rewarded at the end so I figured one to get you started on the way would be good.

This is also where you should park to do it.  Not easy getting a fix so you may need the hint.

If you do this one and not the walk you are a woose!

Please replace carefully.

Day two of our geoart weekend as it seems to have turned into. Overcast and a bit drizzly today but that's the coin flip.
Out this way doing the Geoart run and grabbed this one before turning around, quick, easy and spot on coords, just how we like it. TFTC

Hi ROBTAS
An early morning start, meeting up with the Blue Flier at 0630 hours for a Sundey trip to the NW Coast
Crossed the middle of Tasmania, collecting GAs and Gcs on the way
The objectives for the day were "Sailboat Geoart", "F Fairway GeoArt" and the "Lighting Bolt GeoArt" series
This cache was found and Sainted at 1205 hours with Budge
Found this road and scenery very interesting, especially when the motor bikes went past
The ferns were great
Thanks for placing the cache for our enjoyment
Cheers OldSaint

Another Sunday trip to the Northwest coast to grab GCA caches with Oldsaint. Certainly, a day that I kept Oldsaint moving the whole day as he collected 50 GCA caches during the day. Personally, I think I found slightly more, including a couple of puzzles that I had solved but not collected.

The trip started at a leisurely 6.30 am and while going over the highland route we started our first of three major GCA trails at 10.30. The trip over the highlands was worth the detour, with a First to find at the "Bridge over Ouse" and a WhereIgo that I had solved for the central highlands a long time ago. The three main runs we took on today, were the "Challenging" Sailboat Geoart, the "tricky" F Fairway and the "very clever" Lighting bolt caches. I have to say that the lighting bolt caches had a cache design I had never seen before, so was an absolute highlight.

Thank you for placing these caches for our enjoyment

Great to find this very old cache. Log book and container are in very good condition

Out and about caching in the area and stopped to find this cache. It was a nice day to be out caching. TFTC

After work we climbed up Gnomon to grab the new gca cache, then when we got back to the ute we drove along to this one to work where the mt Duncan track was to be able to climb that one when it’s not so hot. Parked at the spot and wandered over to where the gps read 4m from gz couldn’t see a sign but there was an obvious pile of rock when lifting the big rock revealed the cache. The cache was full of water so emptied it out and signed the log. TFTC Clan Cerberus

We were on a scouting trip figuring out the access tracks etc in order to do some walks in the area. Reached this saddle after a cautious last couple of hundred metres on the increasingly rough fire trail. Soon had the cache located. Log book is very damp but managed to sign it.

change in co-ords as suggested by Dippedidooda. Much appreciated.

Over two years since this has been found? That's incredible. I had just whizzed up Gnomon to find Team Tiges' replaced cache (even though I'd already found it years ago...and replaced it twice in the interim), and so I wanted to find this one while in the area. I started off up the road but stopped and turned around when the road became even rougher and the puddle covered the entire road. I wasn't prepared to head through in my 2WD low clearance Jazz, which left me 1.5km to jog, so off I set.
When I got to the car park area, GZ was 65m back down the road, which didn't seem right, and there was only remnants of a sign way over near the start of the track. I didn't know if I was in for strife, but lo and behold I spotted it quickly. I'm surprised that in all the time since it was replaced it's only had two finds. One by etrexer over two years ago, and about a year ago by the North Motton Scout Group by accident. Log book was saturated and there was nothing I could do about it as I was just in my jogging gear.
I was taking some new coords and just then some motorbikes roared in from the south, did some donuts and roared off again. I was the tiniest bit worried, but thankfully they just went again. So back I jogged to the car, happy with the find.
Thanks Robtas.
Coords more than 60m out...try S41 11.735 E146 01.693

Found easily before setting off up the hill.Glad this cache was here as i had to use the way point to find my way back after taking a wrong turn somewhere.Ended up following a wallaby track or something then it petered out. Had to scrub bash my way back to car following these coords.Dont know how this happened on such a well trodden track probably the rain in my eyes and head down looking for foot holds on the slippery track Embarassed Thanks Robtas

Ran from Gnomin along the Tall Timbers track up this hill to find the cache. Signed and rehidden with care in the settling evening before scampering down the road that was way rougher than the running track and returning to the car parked at the base of Gnomin. The darkness of the evening stopped me from climbing Mt Duncan, a shame as the views match that of Gnomin. I am still claiming the cache as the Tall Trees track is quite challenging and muddy and I have been up Duncan several times before. I was relieved not to have driven my car up this rough road and I honestly thought the bush track to be much prettier. Thanks Robtas for the cache.

Great 4WD track in nice views and snow on mountains made a very picturesque drive found cache easily used hint as co ords were out. Add our names to the list of woosies!

15-Dec-10
Although everything in the area is extremely wet, the cache is dry inside. The vegetation along side of the road is becoming very overgrown and the road needs regrading. TFTC

A quick find with Sirius' coordinates (thanks Sirius). It was good to have two caches in this area with Dial 2 for Duncan being quite demanding (at least for us) and this one being relatively easy. The road from the Gnomen Carpark to the Duncan Carpark has some big rocks, deep ruts and big potholes - take care. TFTC

Found after climbing Gnomon.

Picked this one up when doing the tall trees circuit. Container wet but log book is dry. Thanks

Just a short detour after voting to grab this one. Didn't need GPS. Container very wet but log book still dry. Another 2 wooses join the mob that has found this cache. Weather a bit too suspect to head off. We'll get there one day.

easy find for this cache but would recommend driving very carefully if taking a car. this road is very rough in places. This dummy didn't do the walk but will get round to it one day. Very Happy

12-Aug-10

1st 'Dummy' to find cache and not do the walk...as I've already been there some time ago. Looks like the cache has been in situ for 18 mths...totally undisturbed until now of course. Co-ords were 60m away...try these...S41 11.735 E146 01.693
Many thanks robtas...Cheers.
