Description

The Bluff River Gorge  is narrow and about 80m deep. It is characterised by its steep sides and spectacular sandstone cliffs and caves, with the river forming peaceful limpid pools far below.

I chose this area for my International Earthcache Day find and it was also a perfect place for me to hide a cache that filled a couple of this weeks GCA tasks.

Together with a muggle friend we'd completed the excellent Bluff River Gorge walk in a clockwise direction. It's quite an interesting area with some wonderful sandstone features all along the walk and good views at times of the gorge itself. Before heading back to the car we took the side track to this cache. At first we thought this cache might be located at a higher level where the views are even better but they are still pretty good at GZ. Cache is in good condition.

After finding the new caches in the Sand River Forest Reserve with whitewebbs, SSR and gooseandegg, we decided to head to Bluff River Gorge to find this cache. Nice to return to this area. The last cache of the day and the end to an excellent days caching.

Many thanks gooseandegg for a great day out.

While out and about with Tassie Trekkers, SSR and the CO at the Sand River Forest Reserve we decided to head to Bluff River Gorge to find this cache. We enjoyed the walk and finding the correct tracks to follow. Cache was found and signed before the CO caught up. A good way to end the day. TFTC and the good caching day.

Hello gooseandegg thank you for the cache.

Today I wanted to find a couple of GA caches so I decided to have a go at this one of yours.
I have been to this gorge a few times before caching so had a bit of an idea on where it might be so I didn't bother making notes of your WPs.
As I was walking along the track I spotted a new to me track that looked like it was heading in the right direction. I followed it and it took me to your cache from another direction as the hint wasn't right from the way I came but that's what I love about caching in the bush.

This is a fantastic gorge and easy to get to.

Found on Saturday 29 August at 1110.

Hi goose
I entered this canyon with fear and intrepedation
Things seem to have changed since I was last in here
However, the walk in and out was enjoyable - no Eve Tempters at all today
Walked down to the river and then to the cache
Sainted this one at 1527 hours
I was tempted BUT I didn't
TFTC and cheers

Our second visit to this area as we did the gorge loop back last April. It's a super spot full of interesting rock formations and much wildlife. Being a warm day, we spotted a good sized tiger snake close to GZ that slithered away but the bush sounded alive with creatures as we walked the tracks. I'm surprised we didn't have more encounters! Anyway, enjoyed the walk to this cache and it was a nice & easy find once we got up to the right level. It was only on the way back down that we found the 'track' - we'd both ascended different routes in the style of Bear Grylls! Great container. TFTC G&E!
Cheers,

Thought I’d go get some of the new bridge caches this morning but got a bit side tracked. This is my third trip to this gorge but I still find the formations fascinating. Coords are spot on. Took a direct path around the cliffs at the bottom of the track as I’d been here before. 20 minutes in and 25 out.
