The site is accessed off Racecourse Road, which is unsealed, via a dirt track.

Such a long time since a find but this one was quickly found exactly where the GPS said it would be.
Hard to believe there was once an oval here. Apart from an area where obviously the local 'boys' come to play in their cars the area has been totally reclaimed by nature.
Thanks HILBERTS.

An interesting spot and we decided to tuck ourselves into a sheltered spot for lunch. Suddenly we heard a loud hissing noise and unfortunately a stick had impaled our rear tyre. Bugger! We decided to call it a day and head into Launnie to get it fixed up. We'll return another time to continue where we left off...

this is a great example of a place I would have never found if it wasn't for, parked within a few metres and found the cache after a short search
As part of a big trip up to the far North Eest of Tassie, can we call that FNET like the QLD'rs do? anyway myself and goose booked a few nights in digs in Branxholm so we could search for more out of the way caches this weekend.
thanks for the cache

We were quite fascinated by this area, it's odd how places just stop being used and slowly go back to nature.
Thanks Hilberts

Another great spot for exploring. With so much mining around Pioneer there would have been plenty of players for sport back in its prime.
Could imagine a big pot of savs on the fire too.
Cache is all ok...many tftc..much appreciated...cheers ST.

Today I had to go to winnaleah go fix a customers tractor, luckily everything went smoothly and I had extra time up my sleeve so as I wasn’t far from pioneer I decided to grab a few caches befor I headed back to work.
I mentioned this place to the farmer up the road and he assured me to take the second entrance as to not scratch the vehicle.
A amazing hidden spot this area. Cache was quickly found all though the log was a tad dam was still able to sign it. TFTC

Found today after a slight detour from checking up on a customers tractor. This was an interesting area. The track was a little overgrown for the drive in. Missed the turn and had to double back.Easy find TFTC
#GA4104 - 10:05; I wasn't planning a caching day today, but with double dZ points on offer, I decided to get out nice and early for a quick trip and collect some of the newer caches around the north east, which have appeared since my last visit in some places I'd never been, or had not visited for many years. Collected a couple of GC caches in Branxholm before heading out to the Mt Paris Dam then on to Derby for coffee and a cache before heading along the Frome Road for a couple more, then on to Pioneer via Garabaldi caching as I went. Knew where this one would be as I played a lot of football on that oval as a kid. The site of the cache is the old canteen where I purchased a few saveloys and pasties after a game. Shame to see it now getting overgrown. TFTC Hilberts

We parked the car just off the side track and made our way to the hide. Again it was a second visit to the area which resulted in a quick find. We still wondered about the three little metal chimney tops beside the wall. Had they all been on top of the old brick chimney? Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for this cache Hilberts. We enjoyed revisiting. As we headed back to the road another group of dune buggies and quad bikes roared by.

Found this cache today while out and about exploring the area.
Did some metal detecting around the oval while there, , found lots of old wire, bottle tops and rusty nails, nothing of any value.
