Description
In the early 1960's, three low profile weirs were constructed on Brumbys Creek to buffer the large flows resulting from the release of water from the nearby Poatina power station. Large fluctuations in water levels occur over short periods depending on release of water for power generation. Latest information on predicted water flows can be obtained from www.hydro.com.au/water/river-levels. The weirs are very popular throughout the angling season and provide excellent fishing for predominately brown trout with the occasional rainbow being present.
Every year this place is the home to the $10,000 trout fishing competion which attracts thousands of people to the event held in September every year.

The cobwebs have been removed so spotting the cache should be easier.
Thanks for bringing us here DEZ055
But on the upside I had never been here before so thanks for that.
Took the road from Longford through Cressy to Campbell Town on the way home today
Arrived at GZ to find two fishermen after trout either side of the cache
Using stealth it was found and Sainted at 1029 hours
From here, I went to do the webcam but it was not operational
It was upside down with the camera sub-merged in Brumbys Creek
Enjoyed doing your cache
TFTC and cheers

A bit hard to find in the dark but Mr T made the find.
Many thanks dez055 for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.
Pretty sure we have stopped here before, whether in the pursuit of a cache or not I can't remember.
A great little area though, especially if you're in to fishing which we are not!
Lots of other NO'S in this area too I see.
Thanks for the cache which was a very quick find.
It was still in its hiding location and waiting to be found.
We had been to this area some years ago to locate the fisheries webcam so knew where to go. There were plenty of signs advertising the coming fishing competition along the way. It had been raining quite heavily as we drove in but the rain eased and we were able to make the short walk to GZ where we had no trouble finding the sneaky little container. The log roll was blank giving us our fourth {FTF} at 15:55.
Thanks for another cache in an interesting area DEZ055. This is a very pretty area with plenty of room for recreational activities and is certainly popular with fishermen.
