Description
A small cache hidden close to a Big Fat Tree!
Browntop stringybark (Eucalyptus obliqua) trees can be found in forests throughout the cooler parts of south-eastern Australia. It is difficult to calculate exactly, but the tree would be close to 400 years old. Eucalypts usually reach their maximum height by around 150 years, but can live for several more centuries.
This particularly tree is 62 metres tall. This is not exceptional given that this species typically attains heights between 45 and 90 metres. The tallest trees are found in wet eucalypt forest where the rainfall is high and the soils are fertile. In Tasmania, the tallest Browntop stringybark grow in the Florentine Valley, near Maydena.
The exceptional fact about this tree is its circumference. It's 16 metres around the base which is unusually large.

Logs
as i approached the back of the tree the cache was sitting out for the world to see so it made for an easy find, the log had all random people signed in it and some offensive drawings so removed those pages and signed my name. i placed the cache back into hiding and made sure it was covered over so it wasnt easily spotted by muggles. Thanks for the cache Hancock Clan. Now back to the falls
many times while fire fighting further out Rabalga Rd.
Great to see a cache here now.
Used the new 66s gpsr as the montana hates it under trees.
Once near gz the hide was spotted.....sat the gpsr above the cache and it read zero m to the cache...can't get better coords than that....spot on.
The cache had water inside but the log was dry...ziploc doing its job.
The falls today were awesome....way more water than expected due to subdued rainfall.
Many TFTEC The Hancock Clan...awesome out in this forest...much appreciated...cheers ST.
Although it had been very overcast when we left Ulverstone the sky had cleared by the time we reached the Sisters Hills and we enjoyed the drive through the country side to the Dip forest reserve. There were two cars in the car park when we arrived but the occupants of one were just emerging from the track and the other group were on their way out. We were pleased that we wouldn't have to wait for muggles and could search uninterrupted. We did our usual circuit of the search area, firstly from the board walk then from the area below. On this second circuit we spotted the container perched well clear of the ground. We soon had the log signed and the container returned. Our GPS was a little unsettled when we checked it but cacher instinct and the hint enabled a quick find.
Thanks for this cache The Hancock Clan and for bringing us back to this lovely area. No water over the falls today and the forest floor was very dry. The old trees are continuing to stand majestically in this section of the forest.
